Berdych just left the match mentally when he was 4-0 up in the secon set and by the time he came back things were level. Good comeback for Daveed and very similar scoerline to the one he had against Safin last year.

What a funny match :haha:
First David 4-2 up in the first set, chokes and gets to 4-6 0-4* then comes back and wins the set 6-4 and in the third set nobody even gets a chance to break...

There were no break points for either in the third, I think the closest anyone came was when Tomas got to deuce at 6-5*. The tb went by really quickly it seemed.

The second set loss was pathetic though.

Today's match is another sign that Berdych will never be in the same league as Djokovic or Murray.

The first one, to left the match was Nalbandian at 4-3 and serve. Berdych only lost focus of his serve. David of his all game. Nice win.
Now he have a nice chance against Robredo or Del Potro, but is Nalbandian and you never know.

murray ? except 2 san jose titles, what did he do in his career?

Forever-Delayed
10-17-2007, 02:18 PM
That's why David Nalbandian is still my favourite player... no-one else at 6-4, 4-0 down, when they were 4-2 up in the first set would have a chance to comeback, but this looks to be the return of the 'set and 2 breaks down' tactic that was so successful over the last few years for him

The serve was better than it has been, especially with 3 aces in the TB, and although he still was shaky with the groundstrokes and dragged too many balls into the net, but he is getting back towards his old form (the first 6 games were excellent)

He should have enough for Robredo or Del Potro now, but it's anyone's guess as to which Dave turns up for the next match.

I agree Berdych has had a more successful career so far (he's 2 years older), but Murray is much tougher mentally and everything indicates that he will achieve more in the long run.

I'm soooo happy for Nalbi :woohoo: . FINALLY he's on the other side of the choking display, FINALLY he wins a close match, FINALLY he gets a win over a good player in an important tournament. He was playing well in the US Open but after the tough loss to Pics (including a match point choked away) he didn't look capable of pulling this type of wins anymore.

Another good effort to defend those semi-final points from last year. Though Nalbandian's habit of switching off after six or seven games will probably stop him getting further than the next round.

That was the strangest match. It was like watching under 14 girls' championships. Berdych goes down a break, then wins 8 games in a row. Then just completely out of the blue he goes walkabout and loses 6 in a row. Then they decide to hold serve throughout the decider. And Nalby wins the tiebreak. It was interesting in a wtf sort of way.

I couldn't lose either way with this result, only bad thing is that we don't see a possible Berdych vs. Nadal rematch.

Another point is these idiots whining about breaks of serve. If no breaks of serve happen doesn't mean it's necessarily a good match, but not surprised that concept is lost.
