Djokovic`s a sure bet!!

the others are a bit dodgy but one of them might manage to get lucky.

Thread of the year.

Am I worthy to ask why thsi thread sucks so much? (Lest you have tricked me by posting something non-sarcastic for the first time ever)

It doesn't suck. But its not the best either.

Actually the poll didn't show up when I first looked at it but now it does.

where's the 10th option? Xristos?

anyway from those 9 Djokovic looks a sure pick, Murray and Gasquet very likely; from the others i dont see main candidates

When you post the thread it asks you to create the poll afterwards.

Oh, and it's not the best thread no, but not so bad to be rude-sarcasm worthy.

Gasquet very likely but Berdych not a main candidate? Why so? As it happens I voted for Gasquet and not Berdych as well but I would say that was just a bit of a guess, perhaps yours is the same but if not I would enjoy hearing your reasoning.

Djokovic, Murray, and Gulbis are very good bets

everyone else seems like semi-finals and out material, especially Berdych

Gasquet could sneak one or two in somewhere

I think Djokovic,Gasquet and Murray will all three win at least 1 GS.
For the others,i'm far from being sure.

The only safe bet on that list is Fakervic. Theres no point in predicting the rest as they are either too crap or too mentally unstable to predict.

Murray is certainly talented and not particularly mentally unstable.

Probably because Berdych, despite being one year older than Gasquet, has overall achieved less things than him(yeah he won 1 MS but there was no Federer and Nadal in this MS....whereas Gasquet made 2 MS finals but he had to play Federer in both of them) .

Djokovic is the one I'd say will most certainly win at least one slam. Murray, I'm not yet convinced with him. Mentally and physically he needs to mature before I'd put him in a possible slam champion category. He has the talent...but talent stands next to nothing if you don't have mental strength and stamina. He needs to win one of the Masters Series titles first, and then I'm sure he'll get confidence needed to reach slam finals on regular basis and possibly win one.

Murray simply HAS TO win Wimbledon.

Murray is certainly talented and not particularly mentally unstable.

Hes still remarkably inconsistent and a bit immature at times. The body language he had against Baggy in last year's Wimbledon was a disgrace and he practially gave up. Hes also lacking a big weapon which can win him some easy points. Hes got potential and it will be interesting to see how he develops.

Well his serve is big even though his percentage isn't great and his BH DTL is a weapon for point winning.

His inconsitency is diminishing as time goes by, there haven't been a lot of crazy losses this year (apart from when he first returned from injury).

I am not sure he will win a slam either but I just don't think there is any big weakness technically or mentally that should stop him. If he doesn't it will be because he doesn't play well enough when it matters and gets beaten by better players which may happen.

'Darth Cheater', Murray, and Gulbis look the best bets.

Berdych is too inconsistent. He can play well for stretches, but can then lose to anyone that can hold serve.

I dont see him keeping it together mentally 7 matches in a row

I voted for Djokovic, Murray, and Gulbis.I have never been impressed by Monfils and Del Potro (so many UE), and Gasquet can be very dangerous, but the lack of will is too often visible.Murray and Djokovic are determinated enough (more or less), and Gulbis is the most questionable-he looked like a big threat at USO, but some stories say he isn't hard worker, so we must wait and see.

Djokovic: looks like a given. I reckon, he will win 2 - 5 slams.
Berdych: I would love him to win a slam and I voted for him, but in the end it's too hard to tell. I can see him having a Marat Safin like career (without reaching the No1 spot tough) with 1 - 3 GS titles and 3 MS.
Gasquet: I think nearly everyone likes his game and would love him to win a slam. He is one of the few on the list above, who has a chance at every of the four GS and will eventually clicnch 2-3 slams.
Murray: Sometimes he seems so immature out there, than on other days he shows glimpses of his great talent. I think everything is possible with him from 0 to 6 slams.
Baghdatis: I really don't know. In my eyes he is very talanted, but there are a few bad matchups for him in the draws. If he avoids them or really has a very good run, he will win a slam or two.
Del Potro: Too hard to tell.
Monfils: a few quarterfinals and two or three semifinals...
Korolev: Have only seen him playing a few times, so can't really judge his ability.
Gulbis: see Del Potro.

Nole and Murray definately....

In 2008 i expect at least one of them to win a slam if not both.

I wouldn´t count on Murray winning a slam. He is a headcase, and nowadays a headcase with injuries.
He might be great, but there is a good chance he will be the next Ivanisevic. In that case it´s possible he´ll never win a slam (and yes I know Goran won one). A lot depends on how long Gilbert is willing to work with his temper.

Well I think we have to wait to see how they fully develop, but I voted for all except a few.

Only Djokovic, Del Potro, and finally Murray came through thus far.

According to MTF anyway, it looks like Gasquet, Gulbis, Baghdatis, and Berdych have been major disappointments so far.
Does MTF still think any of these talented prospects has a good chance, or is the array of top 4 or 5 players just too tough for them?
