calleri what a choker, was a break up throughout the 3rd set and only 2 points away from the win, and then manages to lose 3 games in a row, total joke.

I don't like to throw the term around like it's nothing but that was a choke and no two ways about it. DF's at vital moments cost Calleri dear.

Calleri choked terribly, but that's even better 'cause now Federer has the chance to fuck Grinding Willy up.

That was an awful service game that Calleri played to get broken while serving for the match and his play after that was equally as poor. I wouldn't have liked his chances had it gone to a tie-breaker anyway.

Good match though.

Canas is just too good, and more importantly way too mentally strong for Calleri

Canas went down clutching his ankle midway through the first set and he had timeout to get it taped and bandaged.

Clearly it didn't affect him too much today but I wonder if it'll be a bit sore when he takes the bandages off.

I'm happy for Willy, but in a way I wanted him to lose. He's too tired to beat Federer, and a loss will just taint his legacy ;)

Dylan is a 'degenerate gambler' - his comments don't really have anything to do with how he actually feels about Federer, just about the chance of losing money on him. He's trying the jinx or reverse psychology method in hopes of the No. 1 winning this time against the player who unexpectedly beat him twice in a row earlier this year.

What a choke by Calleri. Several wasted opportunities and Cañas was injured for a good portion of the match. It seems that we'll never get a Federer-Calleri match.

I reckon Federer will beat Cañas in straights tomorrow.

Federer will not lose a match until the clay season starts next year and only if he plays Nadal.

His confidence was shook up a bit in the big matches this year against Nadal in wimbledon and Djokovic in the US Open but he found a way to come back, right now his confidence is as high as it can get and I just don't see him losing again until next year. he is also going to take the australian open easily, that's a give me for roger cos it just happens to be the tournament where everyone else is playing like crap and he is playing like a god.

Another lost opportunity for Calleri, but this is not surprising and as for Canas, he fought hard as expected.

Mo Layhani had to work overtime overruling calls throughout the match and both players were pissed off with the officiating.

Calleri recognized he lost the match because was very nervous and

anxious, well that is a formal way to call it, basically that means he

shitted his pants but he said was very happy because played very well

too

Bit of a shame that Fed got a day of rest today and Canas had to play such a tough match. I doubt he will have much left for Federer tomorrow. A bit unfortunate because I would have enjoyed Canas at full strength against Fed. Would have been a fun match.

He did NOT look in the slightest bit happy when they shook hands, he looked thoroughly bitter!

He might have settled down before talking to the press, but it was a disappointing loss for him.

Interesting handshake though, as I thought Calleri was one of the guys that trained with Willy when he was away from the tour.

I expect that sort of handshake between say Gaudio or Robredo.

Yes, well the handshake was rushed to say the least, but it was better than fish/mathieu :tape:

you're talking like the match is already over when it hasn't even started. Willy is never out of a match until the last point is over, and he's certainly not out of one before the first ball has been struck. Now I don't think he's gonna win - and I don't think he's gonna get a set - but I'm not yet bemoaning the fact that Willy had to play when Federer got to rest. It sucks and makes no sense, yeah, but it doesn't ensure a Feds win.
