Poor Haas

However, Robredo, Blake, Gasquet, Berdych, Moya and Ljubicic will send Monaco some flowers.

Pico was excellent today, and he avenged his defeat to Haas at Stockholm last week.

it was all good to 4-2 in the first ... after that ...

Great volley to get to match point. Both players had more UEs than winners- but from the part that I saw (just last few games of second set)- Pico did well.

Tommy was a break up in the first, but Pico then broke twice in a row for the set. Very solid play in the second set. Before this tournament Pico had never beaten a top 100 player indoors - amazing what confidence can do to a player.

Congrats Pico :yeah:

Pico really played a great match and Haas did so many unforced errors, so deserved win for Monaco :)

Yeah I agree, but he's showing his hardcourt results were not a fluke and he can play on a variety of surfaces.

This is a good day for the Argies, even if Chela loses

Yeah especially because each win was far from a given, and this is (theoretically) their worst surface. That said, I don't see any of them going very far, at most another win.

Erm, you obviously need to stop betting on paper favourites...

What were the odds actually?

the typical q4-haas showed up, coached by q2-haas. too bad the q1-haas stayed at home and watched it with his acquaintance q3-haas. both were having quite a laugh i guess.

haas is as cyclical a player as commodities are on stock exchanges.

Monaco has been playing extremely well, he can easily camp in the top15 next year and even top10 with some lucky draws.

Haas seems determined never to make to a TMC.

The story of Haas' career..

Haas just is one of those guys who never could put it together completely for an extended length of time.
He should be proud of his achievements, however, 3 AO SFs is nothing to sneeze at, World No. 2.

Some great shots in this match but too many errors from Haas as well. Monaco is one of the most improved players this year.

Great win by Pico indoors, especially since it was co crucial for Haas to do well here.

In Stockholm the courts were pretty fast, that favoured Haas very much

against Monaco but in Madrid the courts are not very fast, so that made

a big difference today.

but good win for Monaco, I told He could get some good results on non clay tournaments and some people laughted at me

Typical Haas, guy can never make the Masters Cup... headcase like Henman was when it came to Qlfy for it.

:lol:lol I'm sure Tommy will be saying "thankyou Stefan" soon as well.

Pico is prepared to go the net as well and he had a good base to work from. Mastelli and getting himself a woman have helped him improve so much this season.

No one would have expected him to win 3 titles at the start of 2007 and make the 4th round of the US Open as well.

Juan is a smart guy. He's learnt quickly how to play well on fast surfaces, something that took many players a much longer time.
