Murray plays match of his life, defeats Sexy 6/4 6/1

Murray served out of his mind and played very well, even though Steps played to Murray's strenghts.

Why don't you play like that against that muppet Boredo, eh?

Hope you defeat that mug Chela next round and then that moonballer-clown Nadal.

The court is definitely playing very slow.

Close contest till *4-5 and a couple of key passing shots squeezed Murray over the line.

Then Steps imploded and went down in flames.

Murray served as well as anytime I've seen him but he's gotta be more aggressive against Juan Mugnacio.

That first set was really entertaining to watch. Murray was making Stepanek hit difficult volleys on almost every shot and Stepanek came up with some amazing volleys then Murray stepped it up even more to break for the first set. After that, there was too much pressure on Stepanek and he lost some belief. It was great seeing Murray play so confidently.

Murray is just awesome at playing that kind of tennis and Steppa tried to mix it up but when he stayed back he got slowly outplayed and when he came forward he was forced to hit great volleys.

NOW I remember why I like Andy Murray. Play like that against Chela, please.

I thought it was a solid but unspectacular serving display from Murray - 55% first serves, 6 aces, 1 DF, but much better today was his returning of the Stepanek serve - he failed to get about 4 or 5 returns into play all match and it put huge pressure on Stepanek to come up with the goods. That, coupled with Stepanek's wayward forehand, spelled trouble for the unique Czech.

There was one which looped mid court and Steps hit the backhand from it. Del Potro was moonballing against Starace too.

Sadly I couldn't watch it, but the scoreline pleases me immensely :D

It's a shame there isn't more serve-volleyers around nowadays, Muzza absolute loves playing them.

Great score, though I don't care what anyone says, Chela has a real chance against Murray, he's the sort of guy Murray doesn't like playing - very solid from the baseline.

Chela is certainly dangerous, especially if he plays as well as he did in Vienna...

Chela is streaky. If he plays like he did last week - yeah, he has a shot. But that's never a foregone conclusion for him.

I hope Muzz can hold it together.

Chela is arguably a tougher match for Muzza than Stepanek.

Look at the guys he's beaten this year - Stepanek, Llodra, Bjorkman, Moodie, Mahut, Karlovic, Mirnyi....I think they'd all be described as serve-volleyers, and he hasn't lost to one.

Against Stepanek I expect him to play like this. I also expect him to beat players like Roddick and Karlovic. In fact anybody who serves and volleys, and against most attacking players.

The problems are against defensive players who do not hit the ball particularly hard.

Chela will provide a good indication of how Murray is playing. Hopefully he will sustain his performance unlike the match against Robredo.

So much fun watching these two play, there were some really spectacular baseliner versus net-rusher exchanges here that are sorely missed these days. Poor strategy from Sexy to try in come in that much against Murray, he was doing better by mixing it up and playing more from the backcourt as well. Unfortunate that one of them had to go out this early. Chela will be a big test for Andy, he always struggles with that type of player.
