I pick Murray in three but this one is pretty much 50/50. Both good indoors.

50-50 indeed on this surface. Hope Steps pull it through.

I'd always give the edge to murray against a serve/volleyer

Should be a great match, going with the Sexiest man on tour in 3.

Thinking better, Madrid is too slow. 60-40 Muzza.

Muggay clinches it in 2 sets.

Murray doesn't win in 2 sets, he has at least a 1 set lapse.

With his current mental fragility, a match against Stepanek worries me. However, he loves playing serve-volleyers and I imagine Sexy will look to do a fair bit of it, Muzza is the better player from the baseline. If he can keep his head, Andy can win. It brings back some lovely memories, he played fantastically well in their only previous meeting.

Should be a good match.

Murray = serve-volleyer killa. But likely to lapse somewhere in the match.

Steps doesn't have to serve and volley to be effective if you have seen him play multiple times

My head says Steps, my hearts says Muzz.

Steps plays into Murray's strengths but I just have this feeling that Murray's gonna have a brain fart.

So Tipsy's effort in Moscow comes in vain afterall.
Finally we have a decent tournament with decent TV coverage after all those weeks of drought. Go Radek!

Steps is a good tactician as well as Murray. He's not just serve-volley but he can mix it up and adapt different tactics.

Murray needs a good serving show.

Wouldn't say the court was that slow, it's at altitude and favours big serve. Ivo will like it.

I think it will be a tight two set affair with Andy being victorious.

Stepanek will win this one, in two sets.

I will go with Murray based on the matchup but at this point Stepanek has a good chance to win, roughly 55-45 Murray.

No, but it's still Plan A for him, and especially indoors - the last time he was able to play this part of the year in 2005 he had a lot of very good, consistent results and coming in behind his own serve was the standard play. I should think he'll do it against Murray because, although crafty from the baseline, I don't think he can really get Murray off balance back there.

Stepanek in 2

Maybe its just me but I think Stepanek is clear favourite for this match, and has a big chance of winning it if he plays pretty good to his standard.

It may be Plan A, but he knows Murray has success against S&V players, so he will mix it up to keep Murray off balance, S&V one point and in the baseline rallies he will want to hit backhand to backhand. Radek is very crafty and will mix things up, thats forsure.

Don't forget the dropshot-lob combo, he'll definitely use that too, very often.

Of course :yeah: When Radek is mixing everything up he is elite, one of the best in the game.

If Stepanek tries to play this match by mixing it up from the baseline he will lose. Murray wns all his matches by doing that, it would be like trying to hit slow topspin junk against Canas, playing someone at their own game.

Hope Murray, but depends whether his comments last week and the press reaction has got to him and he brain farts. He supposedly has meeting with ATP on Tues about it. Hope can put that out of his mind and WIN
