Gutty match for Nole! Maybe he and Verdasco can compare books - "Seven Set Points" to "Ten Break Points." Another Spaniard, Ferrero, awaits Nole in the third round.

Did anyone see when Nole hit the model ballgirl in the head? I stepped away from the TV for a second, and when I came back they were just showing the replay of Nole's and Nando's reactions when it hit her. She was okay - I think it knocked her hat off.

I saw it on TV. :D Tennis Channel :worship:

It was pretty entertaining, a lot of big shots. Even after Nole lost the first set, I didn't feel he'd lose. Verdasco just doesn't have the nerves to be a top player, sadly.

I don't like that Nole gets so pissy about missing shots and stuff lately. He used to just laugh and shake things like that off. I mean, it doesn't seem to affect him a lot, I just don't like seeing it. He's be better off to calm down more. I guess now that he's top 3 in the world he just expects perfection from himself.

It must be painful to watch...but for me this is something new: playing bad and winning...that's a new quality for me. There's just two more guys left for "testing" - Blake and Davydanko...that I don't have a clew how Novak's going to respond...and on what level compare to him they are.

If I'm right...last year he lost in QF? I don't expect him to win here...but semi's look acceptable.

Neither yesterday nor today were exactly comfortable viewing certainly, but you still have confidence that he will win.

This week's title is Federer's on the basis of his current form - he's destroying Canas at present and is obviously in the mood to make a statement - but am still hopeful of Nole in the final. Taking out Nadal in the semis (probably) in Madrid would be such a great achievement and Nadal cannot be match tight.

They constantly repeat same thing-ball bouncing, fake medical, less talent, parents...

A hundred times repeat lie becomes truth!

Many people read that, and start to hate him, that's not good for his career!

Ok, we may say-that is usual for tennis stars, but I think his fans must find a way to shut them up!

i have tried more than once but believe me...it`s hard when you are a girl whose parents have educated to be respectful to every other person,to try to change the minds of over 20 brainwashed boys whose only goal for the day is not to make theirselves feel better but to make the others feel worse...people who live only to hate and neither know nor want to love something or somebody are pretty hard to communicate with...in fact it`s quite depressing and it can take all your patience and energy:sad: !!!

That's my strong opinion, too!I don't think we should see this part of MTF as some kind of asylum, cause Novak needs some help and ignoring haters is not the way for solving it.

Novak is from a small and not so popular country and you can get an impression that just "blind Serbs" on GM are routing for him, so this starts to look like a sort of national collective blindness and other neutral people become distrustful.

I think we shouldn't avoid GM, we should go there and do the best either of us can (hatred towards other players or posters is not the best solution, but some irony, humour and intelligent responses could be helpfull).

But, that's just my opinion.

No, we HAVE to see this part of the forum as an asylum because no where else on MTF can you be a fan in PEACE. I do NOT want fights brought in here. I do NOT want haters following us in here and causing trouble in HERE. That's all.

However I think it's almost a lost cause in GM because some of the people who have been "defending" Novak in the past and are filled with hate themselves have given us all a bad name.

The more fighting we do, the more lowering ourselves to their level, the more they are right and all Djokovic fans will be the same.

Trust Jess on this (the highlighted part), the more you fight, the more you likely to lower yourselves to the trolls level.

There are many posters who despise what those trolls did in GM attacking players and fans. And they will also despise the posters who attacked back.

But, if you can response to those trolls with humor, keep it up. Just remember never to lower yourself to the trolls level. i.e. stick to facts and only response to posts, no personal attack and not generalize. Moreover, know when to withdraw.

If German players are called Nazis, I don't think that's allowed. But referring to Serbs as bloodthirsty is allowed? Sorry, nope. That's wrong.

That IS the problem. I don't like player bashing either but it's kinda inevitable in GM (Fakovic is as bad as piggy or any other bad name for a player, I think that's wrong too, but that doesn't bother me THAT much). I could cope with that. I could also cope with some silly, mean and badass trolling attempts, BUT, things went too far over there. Noone should be insulted for being a Nole fan or serbian (that also goes for any other player's fan or nationality). Calling serbians bloodthirsty cowards, Nole's fans cheaters because they support a cheater, crazy lunatics who do not deserve any respect is WRONG. period.
Would it be allowed to call all Americans annoying disrespectful people because of J-block?? of course not, nor does anyone even think of naming them like that. but the bad Viena crowd weren't just a bunch of idiots they were named serbs who don't know how to behave on a tennis match, and to quote one post from GM 'Good to have them on the tour, these Serbs '

Tipsarević was also names a cheating Serb. Nole's parents are not only annoying now to some, his younger brothers were a part of the mob, with their 'duty' to lead the awful cheering in Vienna, Serbians would support Nole even is he starts using cocaine, we are all blind, biased, etc..... I won't go on with this.

This is all beyond just trolling and bashing a player. I will never start a fight or even get involved in one in GM. None of those people ever saw me or any of my posts. If I get involved in a fight and get insulted it's more or less ok, it was a personal attack on me, (it's also wrong, but that is personal one on one fight) but if I get insulted by some of the posts, without even getting involved, but just because I'm a part of some fan base or a certain nationality - well that should not be tolerated. And I will repeat again. I'm not easily insulted!!

I might sound paranoid like some we know (E) but I'm not, honestly I'm not.

Sawann and GlennMirnyi have been given 'timeouts' while the mods decide what to do about them and examine the things that have happened in the last few days.

I hate someone getting banned, but those two went too far. lately no score thread in GM stayed open. all get locked because of serious bashing, trolling and attacks. mostly started by these two. Not all of course, and some nole 'defenders' weren't angels either. Just by comparing Nole's winning score threads with the latest against Nalby when he lost it's easy to see the difference, between trolling and serious bashing. I don't post there, never did but at the moment I feel extremely unwelcomed to even think of peaking in any of those threads. That is a problem.

sorry for such a long post :) I was in a typing mood :p

I normally dont Post at all in players forums but this conversation seems to be a bit worrying for many so I thought I should chip in with my thoughts.

I think the main problem is having this(MTF) as Djokovic's official forum in his own personal website. I personally am not that bothered with peoples comments in GM because I dont take any opinion regarding any player that seriously but many over here do.I just post my thoughts and move on.

Now on the current problem ,I think It's about time for Novak and his ever growing fans to have his own official forum like the Federers' and the Nadal's and even Murray have so their respective fans could enjoy in their own private place and not bother much about fans of other players or plain haters. Now having This forum as his official forum makes most of his fans (knowingly or unknowingly)venture into GM and thats not the right place to visit if you take every opinion way too seriously.

I am not saying people shouldn't come over here but there should be a forum just specially catering to all Novak fans which could help solve some problems because I am sure as he continues to get more successful the fanbase definitely will skyrocket .So this could help make matters better.Having MTF as a second option would be more advisable.

BTW I am Novak fan too ,but I like a lot other players at the same time but I hope he does every well in the future.:)

It would be interesting to know how many posters here found their way from Nole's site. I didn't, but since tennis and djokovic are getting more popular each day in serbia, his site probably has a lot more visitors than earlier.

I seriously think this should be done and done as fast as possible.I was not aware that this was his official forum until I checked His website 2 weeks ago to find some information about him and I was completely surprised and shocked by this.

If the Novak team could tackle this problem and get a forum just for his fans then I am sure some of these many repetitive problems would be solved .

The website used to have it's own forum.

And about 3 people posted on it. It was like me, Scott, and someone else who posted here. Completely unactive.

So I think Milan just decided to link it here because not only was it the same people, but there was a lot more activity.

And honestly that solves nothing. It gives you somewhere else to go maybe so you don't have to look at things, but for those of us who are invested here, it doesn't change ANYTHING for us. And that is also the problem :)

If Nole has a forum of his own again, I'm not even going to bother to go to tell you the truth. Forums on player websites tend to be a place for teenyboppers and people who will be more, "OMG!!!111!!!! NOVAK IS soooOOoooOOOooOOOO hottttTTTTtt!!!!!!" than discussing his play and match results. The Roddick forum has a particularly bad reputation ;) I don't want to go some place where every little rumor is discussed as if it is fact, and his girlfriend is discussed in detail. Not for me.

I never thought it would solve anything for us here, just found it weird that there is no forum there, but you answered my question ;)

Yeah. Part of it also coincides with when I became a moderator here.. because I also used to be a moderator when Novak would have fanchats on his website. This was so I could kick some losers out of the chats when necessary :D I don't know, because at the time, I was writing a lot for the site, and the fan group was very small and cozy it made sense at the time :)

No ,I am not talking about the fans already over here ,but I am talking about the fans that got to know/will get to know this site due to his official website having this forum as his 'own' forum. There are many new posters in GM ever since Novak has started stepping up his game and It will get bigger and stronger with more of his success and I assume it is because of his official website promoting this as his own forum.

Having three fans was when he was just a new comer and not many knew about him but I am 100 % sure it wont be just 3 this time around ;)

He was ranked about #20 in the world when there were just 3 of us. It's not like back when he was in the 100s and there were only 3 of us in this forum :rolls:

I also have a feeling that if his website does get an official forum, it would be Serbian language based.

Most likely. And whats even worse, you would have all kind of people there, and if someone mentions that there are haters on MTF or racists for that matter, you would have 20 Serbian sawan's in GM in no time

And of course there's nothing wrong with it being Serbian language based, but it is nice that this one is so international.

I don't think there are more Serbs on MTF than other fans of different nations:shrug:
The number is not the problem. If there were 7 of us,they would still go on with bashing...
And I haven't 'seen' posts in which when commenting any other players and their fans, they say 'those Germains:rolleyes: ' or 'those Americans:rolleyes: ' or 'those Frenchmen:rolleyes: '...
And thank God there are no such things...except...'those Serbs:rolleyes: '
And they keep saying that it has nothing to do with Novak's (our) nationality, and is only in some people's heads.
There are players I like,and players I don't like. I support the players I like,but I don't go bashing others,insulting them,provoking their fans...Nor do most of Novak's fans.
When we go to GM,and we'd like to post and comment sth.,we bump into tens of posts every day with the same content. Discrimination? Insulting? Why? I'm his fan.Have I done anything wrong?
Nole lost to Nalby,I go and say well done Nalby! I would have done the same if Mario had won.
So,I'm not blind or anything. Nole is not my God as they say for us, I don't idolize him... Tennis is a great sport. And one day you win, other day you lose... We're here to have fun.

You often see :) in my posts, but this time only

Actually...I don't wanna be in a bad mood because of some uncivilized people...
I just hope those bad things don't happen.

So if it continues,I'll just stay away from GM forever as our friend Lee advised us so many times, and stick to our great international group of Nole's fans here...
(and enjoy as always :) )

Muzza's forum managed to pull it off. I know I've bitched about the attention-seekers a couple of times in the past, but overall it's a really awesome family place - very different atmosphere from MTF. I don't know if it's the kind of audience that Nole/Milan would be targetting, but Muzza's forum has active members who range from 11 year-olds to middle-aged ladies who are really lovely. It might be rather politically-correct for some people, but I just want to point out that it's possible to have forums on an official player website which don't descend into complete retardation.

Congrats to the Murray forum :) Sounds like it is well moderated ;)

Yet for every player forum that is lovely like that, there are 3 others that go the other direction.

Too true

I think HarryMan has a very valid point, though. Nole's fanbase has exploded, and you get a lot of green posters who stray onto GM... :scared: nice as MTF is, it is definitely an acquired taste.

Novak's website having its own forum doesn't solve that though. And it doesn't change the racist sterotypes and attitudes of GM

People would find MTF because of Novak's new popularity even if it WASNT linked and would still have the same problem.

Here's my thought (in Serbian way) - 'Fans are like their idol' or (translate for me, please) - 'Kakav teniser/covek, takvi fanovi':D

Am i right? Yes, I am :)

Well you didn't really give me a chance to object ;) Translation: Like tennis player, like fan.

Some fans are like the respective tennis player, others not so much. I would like to think that the bulk of us here are like Nole :)
