He will do well here and will be top-100 in no time.

I wish I could go there to attend the tourney :(

This tournament was first scheduled to be played in Campinas, later they changed to BH. If it was in Campinas, I'd go there :awww:

And Gramado Challenger, which should happen in week 44, was cancelled

great news for Brazilian tennis, a lot of futures and now a Challenger cancelled

Gramado has a history, I think it had been played since 1998. It's quite curious that BH is having two challengers a year. Why this challenger couldn't be in Sao Paulo? I mean, we get some futures during the year and only one challenger and it's known that we have one of the biggest tennis base of supporters in the country and lots of places where it could be played like Clube Pinheiros (where Banana Bowl was played one year), Clube Paineiras (where Brazilian Interclubs Championship was played, etc.
Where do you live, Zirconner?

yes, Gramado has a history, it's a shame they didn't get sponsorship to make it happens this year, fortunately it will happen next year.

I live in São Paulo and agree with you, we should have more events here(Challenger level), the only Challenger is played in the first week of the year and I am never here to attend.

and it's a shame it's cheapier going to Buenos Aires ATP than Costa do Sauípe :o

But there is a lot of politics involved, Santa Catarina is strong, Aracaju had events lately because of Dutra, from Petrobras, being from there.

Have you seen the Fininho blog? It's interesting he talking about his trip to Acre.

Yes, I hope so too. Ferreiro won it last year and he probably will go really down in the ranking because he will not be able to earn other 50pts in another tourney.
Yes, the free one. I was only able to attend it once, when Saretta lost to Simoni in 2R and Monaco ended up winning the tourney. All the others ones I was in Bahia with my parents
Indeed. I believe a air ticket to Buenos Aires must be around not more than R$ 500 while a air ticket to Bahia is almost R$ 1000.
Santa Catarina is strong because of Guga or there is another reason behind it?
I didn't know about both, Aracaju's Copa Petrobras event (I believe there was one last year there, right?) and it has been a loooooong time since i visited fininho's blog. I will take a look right now!

yes, same happened to Ghem (Joinville).

a Challenger outdoors in January always have some trouble with rain too :(

Bahia is awesome, you don't have to be sad :p

Sauípe is expensive I guess also because of the hospedation, but maybe there is a camping or a cheap hotel near.

The president of CBT is from Santa Catarina. They have six public clay courts in Florianópolis (of the state federation), I already played thare.
Máfia barriga-verde :smoke:

They had in Aracaju last year, also in Belém (if I'm not wrong, it was the first event of Cañas after his suspension).

Next year i want to see more live tennis :D I'll go to all week of Villa-Lobos Challenger and i really want to go to Sauípe... my wish is going at the final day of qualifying and 1st round of Main Draw... that's enough for me :D but the hotel of Sauipe are told to be so expensive... i hope i can find a cheap hosting if i really go...

and Fininho's blog is awesome! Nice interview with Ricardo Acioly!!!

I'm not complaining about Bahia, I love there :D but even the motels (aka pousada in portuguese) of Sauipe resorts are pretty expensive.. and one of the good things of staying there must be see the top players training (not like when there is a challenger) and see them walking thru the resort.
Yep, last year there was a challenger in Belem but it was not a Copa Petrobras one. And you're right, it was the first one Cañas won in his comeback.

The heart is beating Brzezicki for Poland. These are not words grandiloquently reading as follows, only reality! Both his grandmother and the grandfather are Poles. The grandmother was born .. before territory of present Belarus, before the II world war being a part of Poland, whereas grandfather in Warsaw - Brzezicki is talking - after the war both set off into the long voyage, from Gdańsk for Buenos Aires where settled permanently. Their son but my Dad, married Arge.
With the pilgrimage to Argentina Jan arrived the year of 1982 II Paweł. - then I was just born and the Dad decided to give me names of the Pope. - I am Jan III Paweł - Brzezicki is saying.
The theme of Juan-Pablo's game for Poland appeared already 5 years ago during his first visit in Poland. Less more since that time it has the Polish passport.

A question put forward of Polish Tennis Compound whether I wanted to play in Polish colours - Juan recalls Pablblo. - I answered on not positively, however they caused personal problems that in the following year the matter fell through and I didn't play for Poland

This year during the visit in Sopot I again declared desire for the game for Poland. From it whatever I know a board of directors of the association must collect in this matter, person from Poland ordered me at the moment to wait - Brzezicki is saying.

I think Coria will win today with Brzezicki becauce all Agrentina wait on Coria come back .

Brzezicki in this moment is better. When this tur. will be in Europe Brzezicki will win easy with Coria yet but in Belo Horizonte Coria is today favourite.

Brzezicki U are the best

This is it...if anythings going to happen it has to start happening now.

So i hope to find out why he did that. You cannot just retire from the match at a time like this.... oh well.

yes, it's his fault, because if he was given this WC he should at least show some respect and play until the end... this is a question of integrityi love guille...a LOT...love him, love him....but i agree. that is terrible behavior. I understand how irritated he must be, and he should scream to the moon about it - but he was given a wildcard and should not quit, and allow the other player their victory. It is disrespectful to the other player and to the tournament....and to himself. And to us.

edit: Sorry, I had not read what he said about the pain -- I think that may be psychological pain, but I dont doubt he felt it & was trying to protect himself: "I entered the court very nervous", Coria admitted. "I believe I was more tense than when I played the final at Roland Garros. Then I started to relax and I think I played well for three or four games, but I felt pain in the ribs, my shoulder got hard and I got scared. I'm so sad for Coria... I really thought he would have an incredible comeback with no double faults at all... I love his game, but his behaviour is pathetic. Honestly, I don't believe he had an injury... he retired thooousands of times over his career and faked lots of injuries in many matches. Maybe it's enough for him... if he does 5 consecutive double faults against Brezicki on a first round, I just can't imagine how his game might turn out on a final against a top 10...

The Spanish clay-courters have nothing left to play for in Europe, they are trying to make the most of what is left. And I guess they have serious ambitions when they make the effort/expense to go to South America.
