It would be fun to see Kafelnikov play in the seniors now.

hehe good to see old Kalashnikov is 'enjoying' his retirement, if he wants to be a fatty good on him i say, guy burst his lungs every year for over 10 years on the tour - non stop.

now poker is his game.

At first I was thinking, "I've never heard of a WTA player named Kafel", but then it dawned on me. I've never seen pictures of Kafelnikov during his prime. How much smaller was he compared to now?

Is it true that Kafelnikov played in a European Tour golf tournament a couple of years after his retirement from tennis?

Yevgeny looks like he's been enjoying himself. Would he be considered an abnormally fat pig on the average American sidewalk? I think not. I don't agree with the notion that any former athletes should feel obligated to stay in shape after their careers.

Is it true that Kafelnikov played in a European Tour golf tournament a couple of years after his retirement from tennis?

I've just found the answer to the question I asked:

Kafelnikov makes nightmare debut

Former world number one tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov finished last as he endured a nightmare European Tour golf debut at the Russian Open in Moscow.

The Russian, who retired from tennis last year, carded dismal rounds of 88 and 96 to end the event 40 over par.

His 184-total was also 40 shots off the cut and a massive 50 behind Sweden's second-round leader Fredrik Widmark.

Kafelnikov, who received a wildcard into the event, won the French and Australian Opens in his tennis career.

He followed in the footsteps of another former tennis world number one Ivan Lendl.

The Czech-born American, winner of eight Grand Slam titles in tennis, birdied his first hole on his debut in the 1996 Czech Open but then bombed to an 82, missing the cut.

Kafelnikov also said he hoped to become a professional poker player after retiring from tennis.

Not bad for Kafelnikov. Must be nice to focus on poker and golf. Maybe he has gained some pounds, but his hobbies sound good! Probably no financial difficulties either...

The mod over at wtaworld board has been really unreasonable. They basically banned me several time without giving valid reason. So, just re-register, and then you can see the photos. The mod over at wtaworld.com should learn how NOT to be a$$hole.

 Kafel - Russian Godfather, love it.

Actualy there is something interesting here. I copied part of his biography from Wikipedia.

In 1999, Kafelnikov won his second Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open. He defeated Thomas Enqvist in four sets in the final. In May that year, he reached the World No. 1 men's singles ranking. However, he lost seven straight matches thereafter, and relinquished the No. 1 ranking after six weeks.
Kafelnikov was in the Australian Open final again in 2000, but was defeated in four sets by Andre Agassi. That summer, he won the men's singles Gold Medal for Russia at the Sydney Olympic Games. In the final, he defeated Tommy Haas of Germany in an exciting five-set match 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

In 2002, Kafelnikov was part of the Russian team that won the Davis Cup for the first time. In Russia's semi-final win over Argentina, Kafelnikov saved two match points in a singles rubber against Gastón Gaudio; he won the five-set, four-hour and ten-minute match 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 2-6, 8-6. The following day, he partnered Marat Safin in the longest doubles match in Davis Cup history. The pair eventually lost the six-hour and 20-minute match 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 17-19. Russia eventually overcame Argentina 3-2, and went on to defeat France 3-2 in the final.

Kafelnikov won his third French Open men's doubles title in 2002. He reached the French Open men's doubles final for the fourth time in 2003, when he finished runner-up.

In 2003, betting on a Yevgeny Kafelnikov match in Lyon, France, was suspended when an ominously large wager was made on his opponent, Fernando Vicente, loser of his previous 12 matches. Vicente won in straight sets.[1] Kafelnikov retired from the professional tour in 2004, having won 26 singles and 27 doubles titles.

It is amazing how many idiotic posters there are on WTA World.

I find it hilarious that there is a poster on that board with the username Karsten Braasch  .
