They are offering 20 dollars/euros off their annual pass and if you buy the tournament pass for Madrid you get Paris free. Not a bad deal.

That sounds pretty good. It would be useful to know if they're going to have streams of multiple courts in Madrid and Paris though since it would be completely pointless to me if they didn't.

Getting two tournies for one price sounds tempting.
I am pretty sure that Paris Bercy has only one televised court. And I think that's also the case for Madrid, so the answer would be obviously no.

I wonder if they further increased the bitrate, since they mention a "Super High Quality Stream".

Like mentioned earlier Madrid and Paris only have one tv court. Im pretty sure at tournaments where there are multiple tv courts they are covered as well.

krystlel
10-10-2007, 01:51 AM
Yeah, I thought so since they don't switch to other courts in between matches at Madrid and Paris whereas they do it at all the others. I find it annoying that they only manage to have a camera on one court when some MM tournaments have more (for no profitable reason) based on some of the bwin streams.

It's a good deal but I don't really want to pay for something now to use in March. I might pay for it later.

Yeah I mean for the service I have seen so far its worth well over 50 a year. My only compliant is that there is not more tournaments. Master Series are great but the four GS would be nice as well as maybe a dozen or so of the biggest other tournaments that not a lot of people get to watch. There really should be a central source for decent quality streams with commentary over the internet.

I think they're going to add the Open 500 tournaments to the site when it happens in 2009, at least that's what TennisWeek says.

I definitely think they should have services for Grand Slams. It's a bit stupid that they have them for Masters Series events but not Grand Slams where having multi-court coverage makes a big difference. I guess maybe because Grand Slams are not run by the ATP, but the ITF, maybe that's why they haven't.

If you have a W/L router try to disconnect it and plug in your high speed modem directly to your network card. You can also download boot camp and install Windows XP on your mac. Maybe I'm going to far here, but you can run multiple OS on your Mac. Good luck.

Well, babe, they actually just started that in Shanghai. They have put up some old full-length AMS finals (in mediocre quality) recently, dating back to 2000, and they have announced Video on Demand for IW - we'll have to wait and see how fast their service will be.

They always have summaries of the featured matches, abt. 10 minutes long, shortly after the day is finished. Not great, but better than nothing. And I love their little player interviews right after the matches, LOL

Just a little remark as one of the first subscribers of their Live Stream - they are getting significantly better year by year. The live stream quality was exceptional at the end of last year, definitely TV quality (of course it depends on your internet connection as well). Plus, they finally started to show more than one court; I could chose between matches with or without commentary; AND they also stream Doubles. It's worth the expense, in my opinion.

krystlel

Yeah, but it would be much easier for them to have On Demand for only a small number of matches for Shanghai than for Indian Wells. I don't expect that to happen although I don't know myself obviously.

I agree that the coverage has gotten better and better over time though. They started off a long while back only showing highlights.

If they are not doing matches on demand, if anyone is planning to record the live feeds and can remove DRM and would be willing to stick the matches onto data DVDs and send them to me, I am willing to pay - PM me and we can take it from there. I'd appreciate it, I'd hate to miss out.

I cannot wait for the on demand matches to be common. Especially if I cannot drop everything to watch a tennis match; it would be nice to come back and watch it later.

That was the best and long awaited addition of their service for me, but looking at the site now I’m a bit worried if we will still have the option to choose between the center and the second court.

Does anyone know for sure if they’ll go ahead with that?

They are offering center court and court 2, just checked it out.:D

Question: Any stream for courts 3 and 4? Anywhere? I guess I'll have to try HeretiC's thread...

The stream itself is protected by a password screen that pops up when you access it, and you're only granted a licence to watch it once you've entered your account details. So unfortunately it's not as simple as just logging into the site and copying the stream address for you.

This would be a disaster as AMS TV is definitely worth the money :). High broadbrand live streaming services cost a lot of money, for that reason I'm glad that it hasn't been cracked yet.

The only stupid thing about AMS TV is that you can only subscribe via credit card ! It doesn't make thet service accessible at all.

I just did that. Will keep you guys updated if I get an answer :)

This is what they answered me:

Hi Martine,

There will be extended highlights available after the matches are played so that people living in Europe unable to see the daytime matches can have access to see the games.

Many thanks

So I suppose it's only highlights and no matches on demand
I'm not paying the subscription for only highlights....

And after getting the direct link, it can only be used by the person who logged in before, anyways. I use it to watch the stream in WMP or other Software players to increase the window the way I like it or to record it. But it's worthless for others.

Good question. I don't know the answer to do that (still no subscription), but even if they didn't block out the WTA matches, schedulig a recording might not work, if they implemented a system which constantly changes the direct links to the streams. If that were the case, then you would have to record from the beginning/the first match. That's what I had to do when recording the Eurosport Pay streams for the Aussie Open.

Anybody knows how to get rid of the 16:9 format they use now? I can't get fullscreen mode anymore.

Buy a widescreen monitor to reduce the bars. ;)
Seriously, the only way to watch in the old 4:3 aspect ratio, would be to watch the stream with a software player which lets you manually change the aspect ratio. VLC player can do that, but I don't think that it can handle the license protocoll acquiring process. Maybe a different player can, no idea.

I have exactly the same problem, and I haven't been able to use the service since Friday although I have been a subscriber for the past couple of years and had no problem like this before. I have written to the customers service yesterday but haven't heard from them yet.
My techno-savvy friend says that's probably because I recently changed my Internet connection from ADSL to faster fibre optic connection, and I should ask my provider to sort things out, which I will do tomorrow. It's annoying, really.
Have you changed your connection recently as well?

steven

I wonder if anyone else has ever had the same problem as me with MSTV and has found a way to solve it.

It used to work fine for me, then around the time I renewed last summer (I can't remember if it was just before or a little whille after), I stopped getting any video on the live streams. I can still log in and hear the commentary on the live streams, just no pictures.

I'm not aware of any major change to my connection or system configuration at the time things went wrong and I've tried everything they suggest for this problem on the FAQ and also uninstalled and reinstalled Windows media player, to no avail. I then went through all the suggestions in the FAQ again, rebooting after each one, in case that helped - that took hours, also to no avail.

I eventually emailed them, during Madrid, I think, to ask if there was anything else I could try or it other people had reported similar problems, only to be told that the FAQ is the limit of the technical support they offer and they couldn't (be bothered to try to) help. I've tried to get video again this weekend in case they had done anything over the break since Paris, but the problem is still there.

I should add that ATP MS TV is the only site I get this problem on, I have no trouble viewing videos on any other site that uses WMP.

If anyone has lost video in the past while still getting sound (and still getting video from every other site) and has found out what the problem is, I'd be very grateful to know!

Now that I subscribed to the stream (running at 997 kB/s @ 640x360), it seems to me that the WTA stream is an own independent stream, so it shouldn't interfere with the ATP feed.

No, forget what I said. It seems to me that there are still 3 feeds. Stadium 1, Stadium 2 (right now WTA) and Worldfeed.

The ball is harder to see than last year, and that although the bitrate is higher, due to the fact that the video has a brighter color.

I'm thrilled I shelled out the 70 bucks for this. If not, I would have seen 1 minute of coverage on FSN. That's right: one minute!! They were supposed to have 2 hours of coverage from 1:00-3:00, but baseball played through until 2:45. They then had a nice little discussion about the game and introduced tennis at 3:00 pm. They then showed Murray's reaction after winning the match and signed off at 3:01 pm.

ATP tennistv is awful. Their customer service is awful..apparently based in the UK. Which is kind of a problem for everyone in the US since our emails don't answered until the next day, long after the match we wanted to see is on. Steven - we've got exactly the same problem as you. For ATP MSTV only, IE 7 has sound but no pictures - WMP doesn't even open or buffer - we just get a black space. Have tried everything we can think of - re-installing WMP, running Direct X diagnostics, downloading CODECs but to no avail. We had pictures last Autumn from Paris with IE with no problem so something has changed since then. Have emailed the customer services but am not hopeful.

We get pictures and sound on Firefox but no full screen option and that is infuriating.
Has anyone cracked the full screen issue on Firefox?

I noticed that aspect ratio problem only with the 997 kB/s Stadium 2 stream. The 840 kB/s and 457 kb/s versions are fine. Weird. Anyone else here?

In some ways it's good to know that I'm not the only one, but equally I'm sad that it's happened to you too. You might have noticed that few posts after my first one, I thought I had solved it but I wasn't sure which of three possible solutions I'd tried just before s reboot had actually worked.

Unfortunately, the following day, I couldn't view the live stream again - which was almost as weird as it was frustrating!

I emailed them again and instead of saying 'we can't be bothered' like they did last year, they pasted the FAQ into an email and sent it to me - much the same response as last time in reality. Which bit of "I have already spent hours checking and trying every potentially relevant suggestion in the FAQ, both with and without reboots in between" did they not understand, I wonder?

Anyway, I can watch by pasting the correct mms: link into WMP while I'm logged in (thanks to Four:Love from me too btw!), but it is a pain and seems to buffer a lot more than it did the evening I managed to get the video in AMS TV itself.

Thanks for the tip re Firefox too - I've just tried it in there and it works. Makes no sense at all, does it!

Finally, assuming you want to watch Muzza, it looks like you've pasted the Stadium 1 link into WMP - you need a Stadium 2 link, and I think Four:Love posted that earlier in this thread.

If I found out anything that helps with the original problem, I'll let you know!

Thanks Steven and if we get any joy I'll be sure to post it here. Meanwhile Four:Love we salute you. Keen to know if this is affecting anyone outside the UK or are we uniquely disadvantaged?

Normally watch on Sky but have had to pay for a day pass because I wanted to see Nadal and the Djoker as well and Sky are only giving us Murray (we're on Virgin so no red button - grr).

Allegretto, Cat9, tennisace, Herdwick and steven, the problem I had with AMSTV might not be the same as yours but I finally solved it!

Last Friday I found out I wasn't able to use AMSTV...a window asking for my license pops up and it becomes an error (HTTP 405) so I can't click. And from Saturday I wasn't even able to log in, getting the same error message.
I recently changed my connection to fibre optics, and it seems my LAN setting has been changed because of that.
So what I did on my IE browser was: Go to "Tool," "Internet option," "Connection," "LAN setting" and unclick "Use p/r/o/x/y server."
This did the trick for me! Hope it will work for you, too. :)

Further notes on the non-availability of pictures through IE. My PC is using IE 7.0 but my husband's laptop is still on IE 6.0 and using that we get pictures on that no problem. So may be worth regressing to 6.0...

Having said that, obtaining the URL through URL helper and pasting it directly into WMP works fine.

It works fine through IE7 for me. I have the link saved though, and just paste it into WMP. That way I can just have it tucked away at the top right of the screen.

Is the ATP MS TV worth the subscription?
It does what it says on the tin, so to speak. Good, clear streams with decent commentary. Shame about no full matches on demand, but there you go. I got a year's subscription for a cut price last last year (either €30 or €35, I don't remember) and I've been very happy with it.

Yes, as others already said, it's really worth it. The highest stream bitrates around, pretty good commentary and multi court choice, where available.
Some ppl experienced technical problems, but you should be fine as long as you have the newest codecs installed and/or use the direct links. I didn't have any problems yet.

For IW, I only bought a "Tournament Pass". I'll need to ask them if it's possible to refund me the 12 Euros, since I probably want an "Annual Pass" now and it doesn't look like the price for that changed.

Last week, it was pretty hard to clearly see the ball. It should be different this week. Just be prepared that the Monte Carlo coverage is pretty much the worst in that regard, since you can barely see the ball, even on television. Seems that the organization doesn't care that much about it, since it's been like that for years now.

Hmm, the Me streams are actually the Hi streams and vice versa.

Does anyone have a High (997 kb/s) stream for the Grandstand? Doesn't matter if I click on "850k" or on "1MB", I only get the Me (840 kb/s) version.

And am I the only one who can't get the streaming on the AMS.tv to work with the new Firefox 3.01? I had to use the Internet Explorer.

No, you are not the only one. I had to change to IE too. Firefox kept crashing.

I then remembered that previously I had found it was better to use IE anyway, as with Firefox you couldn't get the 1MB download - at least I couldn't, when I clicked on it nothing happened.

^^ Yeah, I can't use it with Firefox 3 either. :o

Yeah, it's true that I could never manually change the stream quality, when I still had Firefox 2.0. But I could at least watch the stream. With Firefox 3.0, there's no stream window.

Same for me.

For the Grandstand 850k and 1MB both: http://a1125.l2273359124.c22733.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1125/22733/v0001/reflector:59124

Is there any possibility to tape matches using ATP Masters Series TV?

Yappa
07-22-2008, 12:27 AM
Yes, you can use a stream recording tool such as WM Recorder. After recording the stream, you need to strip the DRM protection from the file. FairUse4WM can do the job.

Uh, did the stream just died?

For me it works with latest version FF, but scheduling recordings with WMR only works if I open the site on IE. If I use FF then the recording doesn't start (it doesn't register my membership)

True

For the ATPMTV 24 hour pass, does anyone know if is 24 hours from when you pay or just a calendar day in the country of the tournament?

Well so did I initially - they call it a day pass - but it then says 24 hours access from subscription so I was rather hoping the latter.

then possibly if you subscribed today to the day pass, they will give you access starting beginning of play tomorrow for the whole day. Just my assumption, don't take my word for it.

Hm, the HQ (1MB) stream for the Grandstand still doesn't work for me. When I try to start it, I get a license msg ("You are in a geographical location that is unable to view this content.").

it's 24 hours. i remember last year they didn't even kick you out mid-day. once you're logged in, you can watch until the session ends (if you don't close the window inbetween and need to log in again). that's how it used to work.

*edit: on a sidenote, @ federernadalfan: could you modify your signature a bit? it widens the site because of its length. thanks.

Problem's at my end then. That sucks....and don't know what's gone wrong, cus I was watching matches yesterday and watching feed today, even though it was just of the grounds. I have done everything as normal, logged in etc but when I've gone to 'watch live' and picked a court, just getting a black screen with 'Master's TV' on it. Oh well....thanks anyway, guys.

My covergae ceased at exactly 4am UK time, 11pm local time. Right in the middle of the Safin match. Seems a bit early and I can't believe they would do that anyway. Nothing worse for a tennis fan than to not be able to see a match through to the finish.

Did anyone else have the same problem?
