In the next round, Hewitt faces a good clay courter. If he wins that then it will be impressive and there will be the chance of a miracle for him.

Until then though, he has not done anything that was unexpected of him, he was a heavy favourite in each match.

Yeah  Xavier had 5 setpoints, Hewitt 1 matchpoint.
Malisse fought back amazinly in the third set and he really deserved that one, too bad he couldn't do it. Congrats Hewitt.

:woohoo: Another non clay-courter in the QFs! Awesome!! Nicely done, Hewitt! :aparty:  :bounce:  :music: :yeah:

BTW, Lleyton's wearing dark colored underwear under his white shorts. Nice!

I would have loved to see now a QF match Hewitt vs Ferrero like in 2000 but it will be impossible. However I give him strong chances to beat Gaudio, especially if Gastón's mental game works bad as usually happens.

:retard: we got some really :retard: quarterfinalists in Hewitt and henman. Here's to hoping they both lose in their QF matches, but Gaudio and Chela semifinalists is pretty disturbing, but at least they are claycourters:D

Great mental toughness from Lleyton. Xavier hit 20 winners in the third set alone and Hewitt withstood the barrage, saving 5 set points along the way.

Didn't actually think he would win through this one :)

Gaudio's mental toughness is obsolete. Hewitt has the match in his hands. Who would have thought Hewitt with a chance to make the semi's

This is typical commenting from you WyveN mate~ you're always in denial aren't you  ! A few days ago I saw you posting that Verkerk would probably win over Hewitt... (Martins results on Clay have been better than Lleyton's until now)! Anyway I knew Rocky Llegs superb conditioning would see him through in the end (...6-2,6-1 in 4th/5th sets).

:wavey: It doesn't matter how you continue to denegrade Lleyton's rapidly improving all-court game; 6-days from now my fellow Aussie battler is going to be holding the lovely RG trophy~ to add to his collection(bigW, USO, DC, TMC, TMS...RG ;) :p :p (he can beat anyone & he will!! ).

the result looks easy, but it was a tough fight for Lleyton to down Malisse

congrats both players and for Lleyton reaching the quarterfinal!

AWESOME, I'm so happy for him!!!

he is really playing a good year so far! :bounce: :bounce: :woohoo:

Unfortunately your in denial if you think Hewitt has a chance to win this thing, I said what I would do if Hewitt wins RG and I wasn't kidding.
However if Hewitt doesn't win I hope you keep the propoganda down a bit during Wimbledon.

well, no matter if Lleyton was the favorite in all of his matches so far or not, you can't deny the fact that he reached the quarterfinals in Paris :p ;)

Well done Lleyton.
Good luck in the QF's!!!

I thought Xavier wasn't too bad in the 3rd set, too bad he couldn't finish it off...

* I know what you mean; "deep inside" & "deep down there" I think most of the male population loved watching Jelena bounce around the court with her athletic lunges & the occassional 'peek-a-boo' ;) !

What a pity Damir went berko & took her from AUS  ; will i ever get another chance to see someone so 'easy on the eyes'..

great job Hewitt! It's great that he was able to defend all those set points. I'm sure he'll win his next match.

Howdy WyveN; yeah Samantha Stosur is probably the best bet for Down Under Girls~ if we're really lucky she may break Top-50  . Actually she could even win a Tier IV event somewhere in India like Pratt :worship: !

SO PROUD of Lleyton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is so hot too! I know MORE THAN MANY disagree with that! he, but i always thought he was so hot, and when he took off his cap at the end of the match, mmmmm

anyway, Gaudio needs to go! Hopefully Lley can rid me of this one guy I care nothing about when it comes to all the men in the top of the draw

Xavier really needs to get his head together. He's got the talent, but couldn't come through when it mattered today.

Anyway, congrats to Hewitt. This is probably the best clay court season of his life, if not 2001, and we'll see if he can keep it going. Unfortunately, I can't help but think Gaudio is going to choke from way up in the next round and miss his very best chance of a GS semifinal. :(

So WyverN, if Hewitt only manages to reach the final, will you run half way across the bridge??

It seems only fair.

I think that's right to say that Malisse played better than the result was indicating. He played good and couragous tennis from time to time, but he couldn't win the big points.

1st set:
Malisse was serving for the set at *5-3 --> Hewitt broke back 5-4* --> Hewitt held 5-5 ---> Malisse was serving at 5-5 and 30-0 but Hewitt made 4 consecutive points to break Malisse for *6-5 followed by a "C'MON" --> Hewitt held to love and wins the 1st set 7-5 after trailing *1-4 and 3-5* before.

3rd set:
Malisse was again serving for the set at *5-3 --> Hewitt broke back 5-4* --> Hewitt held 5-5 --> Malisse held 6-5* --> Hewitt serving at 6-5* and 30-15, then two double faults in a row, Lleyton saved set point #1 and saved set point #2 after deuce and gets out of the game into the tiebreaker.
Malisse was leading 3-1 and 6-3 in the tie-break, at 6-4 Malisse believed having won this set with this return winner down the line but then came this overrule, Lleyton saved set points #3, #4 and #5 in the tiebreak to finally win 8-6.

As you see Malisse really had much chances but as we know you have to make and finish the point three or four times against Hewitt before you finally win it :p ;)

Malisse also seemed to have trouble with his back because I saw him often rubbing his back, looked as if he felt uncomfortable and maybe even in pain.

Btw, was it me or did Kim have pink streaks in her hair today? Talk about a dye job gone horribly wrong.

yes, I've reviewed it as they showed Kim at the end of the 3rd set a few times from the side. And she really had some very very light pink streaks in her hair (I could see some in the part of her hair over the ear).
I didn't notice it before you mentioned it, but there was something.

Gaudio vs Hewitt :o

Gaston will probably lead in all 5 sets, some by two breaks and somehow lose
20-22 after 6 hours :help:
