Nalby is the true number 1! :haha:

All jokes aside, that's an interesting fact. What in the world was Nalbandian doing this year until the past month??

Nalbandian only scored in 2 optional events this year.

The 3 top 8 players Nalbandian has not played in the last 3 weeks; Roddick, Davydenko and Gonzalez are probably delighted not to have played him.

If Nalbandian wins tomorrow he'll be the first alternate for Shanghai?

Yes. And he'll be back in the top 10.

We now no who the top 8 points scorers are. I hasten to add not necessarily the "best" 8 players. 5 of the 8 players that have qualified have 1 thing in common; they have lost to non-qualifier Nalbandian in the last 3 weeks. Unless Nadal wins tomorrow none will have a victory against him in the last 3 weeks.

Very, very interesting fact, has this ever happened before?
One can only imagine his ranking/position hadn't he been completely In Absentia during the rest of this year.

Yes. And he'll be back in the top 10.

I said, Nably will be to TOp 10 before AO or Miami of 08 one month ago

Should Nalbandian win he'll be ranked #9.

Do we know if Nalbandian is interested in heading to Shanghai as an alternate? (should he lose the final he'll be #11 in the race so would only be offered an alternate position if either Murray or Robredo pass on it).

Hopefully he chooses to be an alternate (should he win Paris he'll be #9 in Race) as Davydenko or Roddick may not play so he could be in with a real chance of playing Shanghai.

Nalbandian, I'd love to actually see him PLAY Shanghai, his game it too beautiful to watch and he'd definitely make things MUCH more interesting...

I hope so too. David's game is definitely much more exciting than Roddick's or Ferrer's...:worship:

The suggestions coming from the Murray camp (not confirmed) is that he won't go as an alternate...get the feeling he wanted to take his place there on merit by qualifying as one of the top eight, or wait until next year to try again.
I don't see how going as an alternate if someone is injured would make it less meritorious

If you're counting matches won during the year when your opponent retired or was injured as a legitimate win and these are the points that are adding up towards going to Shanghai, then why is suddenly claiming a spot due to a inj. related withdrawal not meritworthy?

Nalbandian can finish 9th if he wins the title, and Robredo loses in the QF, and Youzhny doesnt reach the final.

Nalbandian must be feeling as though his Christmas has come early.

Wasn't just in 2005 when he was called as an alternate while fishing somewhere and won the TMC?

Amazingly this year Nalby as #9 cant reach it, while two years ago when he won TMC he was even #12 in the race i think (omg at the withdrawals back then)

All this talk about Nalby deserving to go to Shanghai more than half of the 8-player field or at least the players he beat in Paris is total non-sense. The Master Cup rewards good performance through out the year, not just the last 2 events of the year. Yes he's been beating everyone in the last 2 tournaments but for most of the year he couldn't even beat players that wouldn't even have a chance against any of the top 8 players. The point system of the ATP tour is not subjective and completely mathematical and discriminates against no one. The top 8 players are the ones who have had the most success of the year and so they deserve to go to Shanghai more than anyone else.

GRAND SLAM SEMI FINAL
Haas

MASTERS SERIES FINAL
Canas, Blake

also that chart with the points says that haas played 7 and missed 3 hows that possible
