3 Spaniards in Shanghai?

It seems very possible, with Nadal already captured his berth, Ferrer being close and Robredo with his nice chances. How will it look like?

Robredo won`t qualify this year [he`ll finish 9th or 10th & be an alternate]!

Rafa & Pics have already qualified<:)

Robredo is still not favourite realistically. Yes he is in the spot right now but the players behind him are better suited to quicker courts and indoors Robredo can be blown off court by a lot of players.

Hope not.

Ferrer doesn't play that interesting Tennis, but unfortunately he will be there. For competition's sake, owned pigeons like Boredo shouldn't be allowed to attend.

But will any win?

It is a great achievement reaching the event. However, performing at the event is important. I fear in the excitement of qualifying they fail to perform at the event.

Ferrer does have a reasonable record against top 10 players and is a worthy participant:

Federer: trails 0-7
Nadal: trails 2-4
Djokovic: 2-2
Roddick: 2-2
Davydenko: 1-1

Robredo's reads like a nightmare against the above 5 and it would be detrimental if he qualified.

I didn't say he was gonna be destroyed, like Boredo would. I just said his game isn't interesting/excited in relation to the fast indoor court. It would be more interesting for me if there could be at least one serve+volleyer there like Radek or Ancic to spice up things cause serious trouble to the big guns

Radek or Ancic would probably lose all their matches to the top 5 players.

I take Radek over all top 10s except Federer indoors.

If that is the case he could still qualify with a win in Moscow and 2 finals in Madrid and Paris if on the lucky side of the draw.

Definitely has a chance, but it would take too much luck to get on the lucky side of the draw twice.

What about Lord Carlos? Could he be the 4th Spaniard  ;) And yes, I'd prefer him instead of David Pics Ferrer.

It certainly seems that 3 could be present. That's a great result for Spanish tennis if it happens, so good for them!

I think Robredo's position is very tenuous. I think someone like Haas could make a great run in the next 2 months and put him out of contention.

If Tommy doesn't get a tough draw in AMS,he will win some matches and have a trip in Shanghai with Nadal and Pics!

Can anyone please stop Boredo?
It's bad for TMC if Boredo makes it again.

Ferrer has been fantastic this season, and I would love to see him feature at Shanghai in November.

Hope Ferrer makes it, will be more competitive than if Robredo makes it, especially the way "Pics" is playing at the mo.Could cause Federer and Nadal problems despite poor H2H against Fed. He's grown on me lately, he's quite entertaining to watch

Everyone from #1 Federer - #6 Ferrer are either guaranteed for Shanghai or basically a sure thing.

The only two places in contention are #7 and #8 which Gonzalez and Robredo currently inhabit but those 2 places will be quite interchangable over the next few weeks (I'm hoping Gasquet and Berdych qualify 7th and 8th but we'll see).

I would love Berdych to qualify too. When on form can trouble anyone. I am a Federer fan but want to see good competition, not just his pigeons!

In my view, only #7 and #8 are in contention. I doubt Gonzalez will make it and Robredo doesn't seem to play with enough confidence, although he did win a title yesterday. I like Berdych, but I predict Gasquet will clinch #8.

 at everyone taking offense at Robredo making the TMC cut. If he does make it, he would have done it fair and square.

Boredo and "fair" in the same sentence? Impossible.

Obviously this will not happen but in an ideal world for me, you would get a few scrappy baseliners (Djokovic, Nadal). A few attacking baseliners (Nalbandian, Davydenko). A few all court players (Federer, Haas). Plus a few players to mix it up with more variety (Stepanek, Murray). A shame that four of these probably won't make it.

Agree with Chjossic, Gasquet or Berdych. Gasquet will prove worthy in Masters Madrid and/or Paris.
