As usual it wasn't pretty, but it was effective and just kept getting the ball back.

Murray couldn't continue from his great start and Boredo stepped up his game and Murray started making error after error.

I'm not a pro tennis player but that was passive crap from murray - and he was making unforced errors off the passive shots. At least if you're going for it the UE's are understandable.

Mentally he wasn't there today. I am really dissapointed, not that he lost but the way he played and continued to play.

Murray in complete command, blows a fuse mentally, lets Robredo back in and then is on the back foot for the rest of the match.

The best of times and the worst of times from Andy. Sublime in the first set then the mental demons surfaced and he gets angry, loses focus, shouts, complains and mentally loses the plot.

Not good from him. Not good enough. He was in the driving seat and he drove off a cliff. I'm very disappointed, not so much that he lost, but in the manner he let it get away from him.

Much work needed on the mental side from him.

Good week overall from him but that mars it a bit.

Well done to Robredo, who wasn't at the races in the first set but was playing superbly by the end.

And to the haters............ why don't you just grow up, get over yourselves, and have the good grace to admit that Tommy is a high ranked player because he fights hard, he wins matches (and titles!), and he has collected more ranking points than the men behind him in the Entry System. If he gets to Shanghai, he may well be "fodder" as someone here said a few pages back, - but at least he will have got there, and in consecutive years too! And as far as I can see, the only thing I can see "boring" about him at the moment is the unsporting and predictable reactions of the haters, who can't even be men enough to admit he played well on any given day or any given match!

Vamos Tommy :)

Robredo may bore a lot of people but it's hilarious how hated he is and especially seeing as really it is not his personality in any way that does it it's just the idea of that type of player doing so well. Get over it and accept that he doesn't suck and his tennis gets the job done enough to keep him between 8 and 12 in the rankings. I admit any higher than that and he is doing better than he should.

Well Ferrer has got his PICS fanbase and he is a good fighter and a good player and if he didn't have the PICS thing in his favour and hadn't beaten Nadal I think Ferrer would have his share of haters. I mean the thing with Robredo is that he hasn't beaten top players because he isn't good enough to do it, it bores people, I mean with a choker type player at least you think maybe this tim he can get the job done but Robredo doesn't have the technical ability to cause big upsets and so he should get credit for his achievements with that in mind but it's not the way fandom works.

I'm no fan of Robredo or Ferrer or Davydenko but I do have to give them enormous credit - they have maximised what they do have at their disposal - they aren't the best players ever but they have got the most out of what they have and that deserves respect, I feel. They persevere.

This was before the PICS thing and when Ferrer started his improvement and after he got a few breaks with Malisse being defaulted and Zabaleta getting injured in those TMS events.

After that once he showed he was able to win matches off clay and have good results off the clay, the hatred wasn't as much as Boredo. Sure he is outgunned when he plays Federer, but most are. There has been a greater appreciation of his work ethic and yes he isn't technically the best, but he has shown he can grind out wins and also defeat big servers.

Look at their records against top 10 players and it's clear to see who is better in that regard.

Too bad Koubek couldn't shut his mouth. Where is Boredo going to be ranked now? He might not make it. He has played every week since Wimbledon, not even PMK was like this.

He should stay at #9, where he started the week.

That of course is the entry ranking though. I think he will be #7 in the race.

so when Robredo wins a non clay tournament it is a sad day for tennis and when Ivo wins one it is a good one?

bunch of pathetic posters in this forum

Robredo is not playing attractive tennis but who gives a fuck when it is effective? so having fighting spirit is a bad thing not like fucks like Querrey who is a pussy and Ljubicic who can t even spell the word fight

get over yourselves you retards, i am not a fan of Robredo but to say that this a bad thing that he wins a tournament because he wants it the most and works hard for that makes you the most pathetic idiots on this board

well done Robredo

This is a guy who takes injury timeouts at 15-40 serving for the match. Clown of the highest order.

I am disgusted....
If he did this against Federer i can understand but Boredo... well i dunno wot o think i was so glad he made the final and was really pleased with his week but now i feel let down because as he showed in the 1st set Robredo is the kind of guy that can be swept aside quite convicingly by decent opposition indoors.

He will be fine though and ready in his next tournament i have no doubts.

Fakervic played many 5 set matches before playing that clown, while Nadal was fresh and just had to retire to avoid being embarassed by The Gooch.

Nadal def Youzhny 4-6 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-2
and another one (after the Djokobitch match) with Federer.

As far as I can tell, Nole only played 1 5 setter. but if you say so, champ.

The problem here is that I continue to make the mistake of giving you the benefit of the doubt. I thought surely that you'd have grasped the concept by now that being on serve in the first set doesn't equate to one player or the other "losing". I've clearly not learned my lesson where you are concerned. Did you need a tutorial on tennis scoring? I'm always happy to help out a newbie.

Grats to Robredo.Comming back from a bagal is a great effort.

Nice tourney for Andy and possibly after the 1st set he should have won. But it was a great work out for the lad. Before his injury he was playing top 4/5 tennis and if he can have a good end to the year it will still be a pretty good one.

It could have been worse he could of had the year that Ancic has had. Stuff happens and you just get on with it. I am expecting great things from Andy has he progresses. The young guns are firing and 2008 is going to be an interesting year.

Simple. He was completely on fire the entire match. Played the most ridiculous tennis I've ever seen. I saw every point from front row behind the baseline and was in shock for all of the brief 90 minutes of the match.

Words don't do it justice. so here are the highlights (http://www.protennisblog.com/15.html).
