I'm more worried about this match than i was for the match against Berdych.
Ferrer has perhaps not the firepower of Berdych but he is way more solid.
Richard will have to dictate the play from the baseline or else he'll suffer

Rgask
10-06-2007, 09:44 AM
the only problem with gasquet might be the short balls he gives to the opponent, and also going back too far from the Bline , even for the 2nd serve...
But still, allez...

Gasquet didn't lose a fuckin' set for these 2 weeks, Ferrer played many TBs in Tokyo
Both are on fire and win their matches convincingly
Ferrer won the only meeting, but it was long ago when Richie was a kid and on different surface

Tought nut to crack, but I say Ferrer in 3 or 2 if TB included, as Gasquet's playing on and on for this fortnight and Ferrer is better than all Richie's opponents so far (no offence to Berdych)

That's a BIG problem, especially if the opponent can CONSISTENTLY(and not like Berdych today) attack them

what i meant is that he didn't always do it puting the ball on court if you see what i mean.:o
Ferrer will attack the short balls but i guess he'll do much less UEs than Berdych

And I didn't see Richard's backhand working so well today. The winner on matchpoint was very good ofcourse. But overall I think Berdych played to Richard's weakness (his fh) and Richard kept playing to berdych's strength (his fh).

All in all, I think it was a match that was won by Richard because of his superior serve today. He will have to play better than this against Ferrer.

I have a weird feeling Ferrer might nick it.

http://smileys.sur-la-toile.com/repository/Rires/lol.gifYes, but your agressive balls have to land inside the court, not UE´s like Berdych today. Made to many mistakes...

I have a felling Gasquet winning streak will come to an end tommorow  Ferrer in 3.

exactly my opinion too.
Richie will have to improve from the baseline tomorrow though as Ferrer won't give him any gifts

If Gasquet beats Ferrer,it will be a really significant win as Ferrer has been in hot form on hardcourt recently(made an US OPEN 1/2 final).
It would definitely mean Richie is playing like a top 5 player at the moment.

The first time they met, Gasquet had played what he had qualified as his best match of 2004 the previous round vs Robredo and still lost in straight. Other times and another surface, but Ferrer has typically the kind of game to embarass Richard. I predict a marathon match this time and can see Gasquet clinch it only by being more offensive than what he has shown today.

It's surprising how almost everyone in the message board tips Ferrer to win, when the poll shows a clear tilt towards Richard. I guess Gasquetaires rock. They silently make their choice on the poll leaving the board for others to fight out while they can just enjoy Gasquet's magic on court, irrespective of the result.

Oh I love Gasquet!

What's their to be paranoid about? I am just happy that I got to watch Richie play this weekend. He is superb. Though he could have played much better today. I hope he will, tomorrow.

I wish both could win, but as it is I'm going with the best single-hander the game has seen in a long time.

I hope he doesn't get completely frustrated with Ferrer's superb return of serve, because he's not going to get many cheap points off his serve.

Ferrer has a very good chance I think. Gasquet has been serving well but if it drops he will be in trouble against sucha great returner as Ferrer and on the whole the match up doesn't favour him. However, as far as quality goes I think Gasquet can outplay Ferrer for periods of time and it depends on whether he can keep it up for the amount of time needed.

It all depends on which Richie shows up. I hope it is Richie the magician and he shows the unbelievers that he belongs with the "Big Boys".
