New ATP calender for 2009 - a conspiracy against Gasquet.

Dear all,

Assuming that Gasquet wins every damn tournament (GS and MS and Year end masters) from now until the US open 2008, there is a chance that he would be the no.1 player in the world by then.

With ATP calendar change in 2009, Gasquet loses a good 12 weeks in chasing whatever Federer's record of consecutive weeks at no.1 would be at that time.

I say this because I am not sure how the ATP championship points earned in 2008 can be defended in 2009. So I am guessing that the table starts afresh and some Nadal wins a ATP-250 tourney somewhere before Richie gets to play and Richie loses his no.1 ranking atleast for a few weeks.

This may be a conspiracy against Gasquet. What do you all think?

Which is the lesser of two evils then- being boring and unoriginal or not making a lick of sense? :p

Thou speaketh true.

Ze world knoweth zat monsewer Gasquet iz ze heir to ze throne of ze great king Grosjean and must stoop to inconceivable depths and immeasurable nadirs to stoppeth ze wizardry of Reeshard.

Yea, but thou hath erred young sire, yea terribly thou hath mispoke; for now ze men in black are aware of thy esoteric knowledge and eternal fount of wisdom and shall stop at nothing to smite thee down; thou art in much danger; danger which thou cannot comprehend.

Quick! Gather thy wares and goodz! Do not tarry nor dilly dally for death approaches on a pale horse!

Yea, there art only ten of uz who hath attained ze truth; I shalt private message thee with ze location of our underground chamber; thy only sanctuary from maleolent forces; thy only haven from heretical, harbingerz of catastrophic and callous doom.

Do not waste time; post haste abscond young Juvvi; post haste abscond! We await thee with ze blanketz of our dignity and brotherhood!

we'all know that frenchies pronounces "the", "that" with a "z" but can you write it properly, it's hurts to read it :tape:

:haha::haha::haha:

Yes. Because that number 1 ranking was a LOCK for Gasquet before the schedule change. Damn Mirka and her machinating ways (its the only way Federer can win these days, you know).

The original idea of the post is to ask about how players can defend their points in 2009 when the entire system changes. Just thought about throwing in Gasquet into the mix because its lovely to dream and I love the way he plays.

Can anyone tell me what happens to the championship rankings in 2009? Forget Gasquet, will Federer have problems stretching his record of consecutive weeks at no.1?

Nice thinking here. Atleast more original than 100s of threads on fed vs sampras vs cow.

You get my kudos.

I like Gasquet's game too much to be sarcastic. I am just delusional and I like it. But the original intention of the post was lost in the Gasquet conspiracy theory.

Can someone tell me how players would defend their 2008 points in 2009 if the structure changes?

I don't think anyone knows. Mr Disney probably hasn't given it much thought yet either. Maybe they'll keep the "old" rankings as the entry system for 2009, and the all new-improved 1000s and 2000s and 500s etc for the race?

I think Mr. Disney is the biggest clown in ATP. Looks like the type who takes himself too seriously and wants to make some kind of mark in tennis history with his antics. He surely has fucked Gasquet's attempt at the record. :D
