France sucks, what is the point of this nation?

Probably a fixed match, this.

Well done Zhenya, now go beat Willy :yeah:.

PD: No chance this one was fixed, Jaap, a few weird tradings don´t make it a fixed match

Nice win for Korolev. I hope he can build some positive momentum in his career now and has his best year in 2008.

This has been such a wasted year anyway for Korolev, complete waste.

Just bc a guy lefts there 10k´s at 1.22 when Gicquel broke back, doesn´t mean it was fixed ffs there are lot of possible reasons for this. Price on Gicquel went down the whole day and money was coming into him the same happened with Santoro and odds after Andreev broke him where pretty short for Igor, probably people who backed both favs pre match, trying to minimize his losses or whatever. So, money flow prematch makes it highly unlikely and there were not enough weird tradings imo to jump into any suspicious conclusion

Funny, as I think this will be a key year for him in terms of gaining experience. He would have lost his match a few months ago I´m sure, and he will be winning many more matches next year, I´m convinced

Alright, probably not fixed but someone most have know something to put such big money on a player that is very unreliable who has just been broken and when its still on serve in the 2nd set.

Gicquel maybe had no intention of winning this match? Not sure.

Don´t think so. Maybe the guy wanted to green out after having laid Korolev at 4-3, lost his connection or just was pissed off and wanted to trade out with a smaller loss on both sides, if u want more possible scenarios I might write a few more.

Unlikely, as Gicquel has played his best tennis in these small French indoor tourneys, no reason to throw a match like this

What happened? Did Korolev finally figure out that there is no giant hole with deadly alligators between the net and the baseline?

A good win for Korolev against Gicquel, he had wrist problems earlier this year that set him back and also had very low 1st serve % during the summer. For these youngsters, rankings sometimes could be misleading, in this case I think Korolev has made progress this year and his game requires some time to mature.

Good luck in the next round, RMK would probably prefer to face Canas rather than Melzer.

Not at all. Unless you expected him to be in the top 20 at the end of the year.
