May I ask, what is the best way to keep track of who could take the last two places for Shanghai based on the very latest results? The ATP site has the rankings but it is only updated every week I think.

Will Nalbandian go to Shanghai as the #1 alternate?

1st Alternate - David Nalbandian
2nd Alternate - Tommy Robredo

(It's 9th and 10th in the ranking if there isn't any withdrawal)

Any news about Andy Roddick? Will he go to Shanghai? Maybe he'll prepare for Davis Cup Final, I hope.

Roddick plays in Shanghai??

Let's hope he doesn't go and Nalbandian gets his place in the draw.
Roddick (and Davydenko as well) are not in the best shape to be succesfull in Shanghai. They better stay at home.

Nalbandian's physio Diego Rodriguez tells Argentine website Fue Buena that Nalbandian has turned down the offer to go to Shanghai in case someone pulls out. Nalbandian finished in ninth place in the ATP points race to Shanghai and would have been the next player into the field if one of the 8 qualifiers pulled out.

"We talked to Roddick's manager, and he assured us that Roddick will not skip the Masters [Cup]," said Rodriguez, adding that Davydenko's agent indicated Davydenko was also planning to play. "As a result, we don't want David to take physical risks and prefer not to travel.

" We don't want the same thing to happen to us as in 2006, when because of certain commitments, David was not able to do his pre-season [training]."

Nalbandian is expected to make a formal announcement tomorrow.

Nalbandian decided not to travel to Shanghai. He's replaced by Robredo. source http://www.radio-canada.ca/sports/tennis/2007/11/07/001-masters.shtml (in French)
