Will Davydenko Win Moscow And/Or St.Petersberg?

It's really weird that Davydenko is ranked #4 in the world, has had his most consistent year at the Grand Slams (QF,SF,4th,SF), looks set to qualify 4th in the Race yet for some reason hasn't won one title this year...

I thought he was playing incredibly at the U.S. Open and really tested Federer in the semis yet why hasn't he been able to convert his great clay court play at Rome or the French Open or his great hard court play at the U.S. Open into at least one clay court title or hard court title this year?

I mean, Juan Monaco has won 3 crappy little clay court titles this year. Shouldn't Davydenko at least have won one of them?

And why doesn't Davydenko play those minor clay court tournaments in South America at the start of the year (Acapulco, Buenos Aires, Costa de Suipe etc.)? Surely he could have won one of them.

So with only one month left of normal tournament play how likely do you think it is that he'll win either Moscow or St. Petersberg or perhaps both?

I think considering how well he's done at the Grand Slams this year and that he'll most likely qualify 4th for Shanghai it would look kind of embaressing if he arrived in Shanghai without having won a single title.

Indoor carpet isn't ideal for him, but if he can replicate his US Open form, he would stand a chance of doing well in one / both.

why not Paris again?

If Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are playing I don't think Davydenko will have a good chance of defending his title.

Especially when you consider he's been refusing to win titles all year.

I do think Federer and Nadal will play Paris out of guilt as Federer hasn't played it since 2003 and since he missed Tokyo he shouldn't have much of an excuse. Also, I don't think Nadal has ever played the Paris Masters.

He won't fix in Moscow, the prestige tournament of his home country, but he will do it in St. Petersburg as he did several times.
