Usually I cheer for the underdog, or the team that needs the result more. Sometimes I cheer because a tie is important for a favourite player, for example I supported the Czechs against the US, but now I would prefer the US winning the final since they have not won it for some time and Russia just got the title last year.

Besides, the upcoming predictions about the domination of US tennis as a result of a potential win would be quite amusing.:)

I'm one of these people who truly hates DC and the whole concept of supporting a team/player just because they come from the same country you do! I watch it if it's on because I like to watch live tennis, but I will cheer for whichever player I prefer in whatever match - nothing to do with teams.

I support the team that has more of my fave players on it usually. But I also will support a team that will allow for a later tie to be played in Australia so I might get to go, or I'll support a team for a fun potential matchup later, eg I wanted Australia to win against Serbia because Australian ties would be on TV, and the world group ties are more interesting.

I don't support anyone but out of the world group nations I'd like to see The Argies win it. They've probably got the greatest tradition in the sport of the teams that have never won it, you get the feeling watching them and the passionate crowds that unlike a lot of nations it would mean a lot to the country as a whole to win it and in general I quite like their players.

true that Greek tennis is crappy. let's talk about the Greek football then. i was rooting for the Czechs in Euro 2004. why so? cause i loved their offensive flowing game. guess what? i was crying when Greece lifted the trophy. does this make me unpatriotic? a Greek race traitor, perhaps?

i understand if you don't like certain tennis player from your country,me too...but represetantion is so another thing.
just like in football,basketball.

what do you think-do nathii 'n voo root for polish wolleyball team no matter what because they like some players?.all canadians were so happy for their medals at oi becuse they're canadians 'n that is normal.it would be pretty twisty if jkay or lee or buddyholly or minn or bigjohn dislike their country rep.

same in dc.it is representation.

let's talk about the Greek football then. i was rooting for the Czechs in Euro 2004. why so? cause i loved their offensive flowing game. guess what? i was crying when Greece lifted the trophy. does this make me unpatriotic? a Greek race traitor, perhaps?

to tell the truth it does you very unpatriotic.
