Mumbai R1: Matsui d. Singh 64 76, worst ATP match of the year? Mumbai worst tourney?

This deserves a mention, two players ranked outside the Top 500 playing an ATP level match.

Mumbai is really a big mess with all the bad weather, last year they had the Monday final, this year the qualifying was completed on late Tuesday afternoon (new record?). The scheduling is also bad, matches are starting after midnight, the outer courts aren't used enough, etc. Another annoying thing is the scoreboard which only works in patches

All in all, this seems to be the worst organized event of the year that needs to be moved somewhere else (or held at another time).

The tournament should be scrapped.

Who are these players? Is this the same tournament that Hewitt went to? How much did they pay him?!

Toshihide Matsui (JPN), age 29, rank 536
Navdeep Singh (IND), age 21, rank 817

yes, Gasquet and Hewitt are the top seeds there

This tournament started life in Shanghai, was moved to Ho Chi Minh City for one year then moved to Mumbai. I wonder where it will go next.

shanghai and ho chi minh city got worser fields than mumbai anyway.
I think this tourny should move to kolkata. (netaji indoor stadium where wta tourny is held.)
Mumbai get a lot of rain this season and players aren't willing to risk the next tournament.

There are indoor stadiums im mumbai but Globosport certainly choose not using any of those.

This is no worse a match-up then Augustin Gensse vs. James Ward at Valencia.

Oh it is not that bad.
We have seen much worse fields in the past 2 years.

Metz last year was a clown tournament.

I only know that most of the players I did enjoy watching last year
went to Bangkok or are not playing at all. I've decided not to go to India
as well. Last year it was not raining much, but extremely humid conditions troubled players a lot.

It must not be the best tournament to play but one can definitely enjoy watching, since it’s tine and you have a feeling of being in your our tennis club.

Am surprised this event isnt played in Kolkata - the same venue and the week after the WTA event. It's indoors - so rain wont stop play. ATP should really think of moving it. I think it doesnt help that the tournament is played the week after the Davis Cup SF and WG playoffs either.

Haha, this is the tournament that gave a wild card to Aljoscha Thron. As much as I <3 him it was a joke.

A cut of 78, with the qualifiers being Ascione, Clemens, Saulnier and Stakhovsky.

Right.

Kolkata is a joke. No one shows up to watch the matches. Both events should be cancelled.

Playing an event in India outdoors :retard:

I can't think of any time of the year that would be possible, it's either too rainy or too hot.
