Apparently he has a viral infection. He looked fine in yesterday's doubles though.

This has pretty much handed Serbia a place in the WG.

A sad day for Aus tennis when they are relegated to the zonal groups. Maybe this will make the idiots at Tennis Australia sit up and take notice of the fact that nothing is done to support tennis in this country and that the sport basically does not exist except for a few weeks in January. No proper coverage of it on tv, nothing.

Yeah you're right, because that's what would happen if someone played with a viral infection! Apparently can't get out of bed.

An infection called "I don't want to get my ass whooped by Djokovic".
A scarring disease.

Good decision, it's not worth it to kill yourself when you know your useless teammate has no hope whatsoever to get close to a win.

Just want to point out that Luczak has beaten Tipsy on clay before:devil:

Hewitt isn't the type to run away from a good challange...I'm sure if he was fit he'd play!

Well, that's from the time when Tipsarevic was as useless as Luczak. Tipsy has improved, while Luczak is still stuck in Clownsville.

Not worth the risk for Hewitt to hurt himself even more.

The Serbian team will win another DC tie after and injury/sickness.
In the last round it was Labadze now Hewitt.
I am sure that whoever they meet in the next round the top guy from that team will got injured :o

If Stan sucks as much as the Aus #2 / Brit #2 player, I live next door to Gordon Brown.

Based on the form in the first day's singles, Djokovic would have beaten Hewitt anyway, I am sure of it.

Apologies, yeah I got confused by the thread...there was a thread yesterday where there was criticism aimed at the rest of the Swiss squad.

Yeah the tennis coverage on free to air tv is pathetic. Only really Aus Open and Wimbledon, with 3 days of US Open thrown in. No wonder there is no interest in tennis. Coverage of this DC tie was not even live.

Yeah, it didn't really matter who played for the Aussies...problem of having a near 1-man team (as the Brits also know full well).

I am no fan of Hewitt's, but I can't believe that he is the type to run scared. If he was capable of playing, he would have.

Mind you if he makes a miraculous recovery to play in Mumbai next week I may reconsider that verdict!
