The dream for Peru is almost realised and need 1 more win and they will be in the World Group for the first time.

Lucho should never have been taken to 5 sets by Vlad on clay, but it doesn't matter he got the W and gave the crowd more value for money.

The match went 4hr 56 mins and almost had 200 unforced errors, but it doesn't matter.

Lucho, Chino Miranda and Yzaga have been together as a group for a long time and it would mean a lot if they can get through to the World Group.

This weekend's matches are the biggest in Lucho's career, he and Chino have to play doubles and I don't expect them to win today, but on Sunday they should get it done.

Lucho :worship:

He came back from the dead yesterday. This was a big struggle from both players, but only the win matters. 201 unforced errors (Voltchkov had 120) in match might be a new record though.

It would have been a bit embarassing for Horna had he lost this match, but good on him to make a comeback. If he's injured, maybe the best thing to do would be to let him off the doubles today and rest him up for tomorrow's match against Mirnyi. Too bad for Peru they virtually don't have a third player.

201 in fact, going by the scoreboard stats. Voltchkov - 120 unforced errors, that shows you how badly he struggles on clay, and he still led by two sets to love and 4-2 in the third. That in turn just goes to show Horna's returning problems even on clay, I suppose.

He's got problems with his back so it will be tough to play that many matches in such a short time. But he really wants the win for Peru so he'll give everything he's got.

Lucho has a herniated disc in his back and he wouldn't miss this tie for anything in the world. Yzaga said that they will be the doubles team.

I doubt whether he will play after this tie for the rest of the season. He has had a lot of injury problems.

Vladiator just goes for it and he won 2 Futures titles on clay and got off the vodka for this one and Lucho he'd have hit some balls into Ecuador on return of serve and bounce three times before the net.

Great fight Lucho
Vladimir was playing in the futures tour, with some decent results but honestly i can not belived that it was a 5 set-fight on clay. Lucho

Vlad would have won if it wasn't for the stupid stop yesterday. Next time at least play somewhere decent with lights and stuff.

Great effort Vladimir, at least you didn't lose to a joke of a player like Max, throwing everything away.

Lucho was the one with the momentum when they stopped play. :)

Vlad did a lot better than expected.

If facing 4 BPs and making no points on Vladimir's serve in the 2 games he served in the fourth is momentum, then I'd agree. As it's not, I disagree.

200 unforced errors :haha: is too much

maybe the peru livescorers confused in the consideration of an unforced error....

When start the doubles???

The match was stopped at 2-2 in the 4th set.

If it was stopped when he was up a break in the 3rd set, then Vlad clearly had the momentum.

So? Vladimir held to love his first two games and before play stopped he had 4 BPs when Horna served 1/2.

Trying to piss on Horna's victory I see. Facts are that Max shouldn't have lost to Chino, even if Miranda has the greatest slice backhand in the world.

Vlad did a lot better than expected, great having all the break points, but he didn't convert any of them in those 2 service games. He had his chances to finish it on Day 1, but didn't.

As if defeating Voltchkov in 5 on clay was a great victory. It would have been more embarassing than Max's loss, which was embarassing enough.

Its only the worst slam because all your faves suck there, all the players you hate do well there, and the guy that wins it every year, you cant stand and have on numerous occasions wished injury upon

Voltchkov was leading 2 sets to 0 and had gamepoints for 5:2 lead in the third set. It's very strange, considering the surface and the place of this match.

Wimbledon doesn't have night play because of the dew, not because of the lights.
