Janko plays Davis Cup

Janko lost his first match in 5 sets versus Hewitt today.

Janko went a set down, then won the next two but couldn't keep it up. Hopefully he will be able to win his next match which will probably be against Luczak.

Ajde Janko!

Here is a DC thread... *bumps*

Apparently Janko has an illness and/or injury.. According to what people have said in this forum, and here: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=6541415&postcount=36

Yes,he won't play today ...but captain Obradovic said there's posibility that he might play on Sunday...who knows...those guys are so unlucky...now Ziki has temperature, too
What a debut for Serbia in the World Group:sad: :bigcry: :tears: :sobbing:

It was disappointing Janko couldnt play at DC. Ive become a fan of him since AO this year, he played amazingly against Federer! I was very impressed!
Even though im happy that Russia won this round (big fan of Marat you see :p) we will see great things to come for Janko, and the rest of the team!

I know, it's a shame. But it's great he was there cheering on his team :) If he and Nole were completely healthy, along with Viktor and Nenad they could have won this tie easily, Russia played poorly. But no matter, they'll win DC soon enough! :D

(big fan of Marat you see :p)

Aren't we all  ;)

Janko will not play Davis Cup  The Team went to Bratislava yesterday, and he has been replaced by Boris Pashanski, because his ankle is still not healed. The Davis Cup website has just not been updated yet  Sorry.

I'm kind of happy about in a strange sort of way. :rolleyes:It means that he won't play until his ankle is fully healed.
i'd rather want him to skip the DC, than risk getting injured worse and miss out on the AO or something
Get well soon janko:smooch:

If this is true: http://www.rtvpink.com/vesti/vest.php?id=18216 (serbian only) Janko will play after all http://vasiljevict.users.sbb.co.yu/smiliesm/scratchhead.gif.
It is said that he got doctors approval and he went to Slovakia.

Now I really am confused  But Novak's website was wrong about Krajinovic going to Bratislava - so maybe they got this bit wrong too

Personally, I'm with Sabrina - I would rather he stayed home and concentrated on getting himself fully fit for the rest of the season. With Novak and Viktor available (and Nenad for doubles), I don't think Serbia will need Janko to secure the tie, so he should rest. Perhaps he will just go and cheer on the team, but not play

It was not only on Nole's website, it was in whole press that Janko was not going. If this article is correct he decided to go in the last moment.
And I agree with Sabrina and you :).

I was walking around the house and saw that my dad had this article open, so I read it and thought I'd post it here. http://www.glas-javnosti.co.yu/clanak/sport/glas-javnosti-16-09-2008/i-tipsarevic-u-slovackoj
Basically, yes, Janko is going and it says he will play  Pashanski will replace him if need be.
Janko practised yesterday without any problems, but the team doctor and physiotherapist are keeping a close eye on him anyway. There's a quote from Obradovic saying that they got the green light from Janko's doctors and that the injury's healed. I fricking hope so :scared:

Ooh jeez now I'm all nervous for him. I really hope he's properly okay. I agree that I was almost pleased he wasn't playing because it would give him more rest before the AO etc.

Still, if his doctors are sure... ajde Janko!

I hope the doctors are right..And I think Janko is wise anough not to play when he is not fully healed yet:)

Oh,my God,after this match my life is about 5 years shorter!(1 year per set)...I was nervous all the time-at first I was afraid for his leg,but then that Lukas made me sooo mad-he was playing so good, and Janko was struggling and...well,I think you all know what I want to say.
But still, great victory for Janko.I hope his leg will be fine(in those last points it seemed like he had problems)

And did you see the rest of the davis cup team after he won? They were adorable!!!:):)

Just read this on the DC website:

The final rubber was conceded by Serbia: following a thorough medical examination, both theoretically available Serbian players were declared unfit to play. So the Slovak Republic earned its single point, the score finally standing at 4-1 in favour of Serbia.

I'm not really sure how to interpret this. Do you think it could be the ankle or just fatigue or something else? I'm assuming they mean Janko as one of the available players.

Personally I interpret it as meaning they were all tired, and possibly a bit hungover, and could see no point in playing, when most of them are playing in tournaments next week. Or am I just being cynical?:o Seems a little unfair on people who have bought tickets if that is the case though

You're probably right. I think I was just nervous in case he went and hurt himself again. :o
