Second round Lubbock challenger...

Makes you wonder who Young actually did beat recently (Delic who lost to Sweeting last week and Guccione who anyone can beat at the moment). He did win a challenger early summer. But I think it's safe to say Young is still a good challenger level player, not (yet) ATP quality.

The players at this level are regularly beating each other one week and losing to each other the next week. This match is no big deal.

Agreed. These players are so up-and-down in their match play against each other that these kinds of results are meaningless. Although I will say I'm really happy for Rajeev Ram.

Wolmarans outlasts Young at this tournament- I think we all know who's going to have the better career ;)

Obviously we now have conclusive evidence that Young sucks and will never make the top-100.

I dont see this as too bad a result. A few years ago, Young would have simply given up after being handed a bagel. To have actually stepped up his game and lose by a pretty slim margin afterwards is a testament to his growing mental game. He still needs time to grow, but at least he's' going in the right direction.

Hell yeah! Sounds a lot like TMF between winning Jr Wimby 1998 and 2002/3

Yea dumb thread, yet didn't show he won his first match LOL.

Donald will probably win one of the next 2 challengers.

Rajeev's good looks were a little too much for Donald to handle in this one.

Granted this is a terrible loss, but I'm not about to give up on Young when he is only 18.

I was there for every point of his match against Lopez at the Open and he should have won. Not could have, should have. Lopez didn't play very well, but Young showed way more variety in his game than did Lopez.

Difference in the match was Lopez being able to win free points on serve and being more match tough, which showed in the big points in the tiebreakers. With more experience, this match would have been Young's for sure.

Now why he's losing to Rajeev Ram; THAT I cannot explain.

He's making progress ( winning at the US Open, taking sets off of someone and giving some top players some serious trouble) but he's certainly not there yet.
