Cocky Costa?

Isn't this interview a little cocky from costa?
He's favorite tomorrow for sure but Malisse strikes me as a confidence player
and how does he manage to completly ignore results from a tournament from last week?

Q. Xavier lost four times in a row the clay court season, went to St. Polten, lost in the final. Do you think he will be completely different than in Hamburg?

ALBERT COSTA: He played final in St. Polten?

Q. Yes.

ALBERT COSTA: He's a really good player. He can play all kind of surface. I hope is -- I know is going to be a tough one, but I think I have good chances to beat him.

Not at all IMO. He did compliment him, didn't he?

05-28-2004, 03:48 PM
yea, but when do they not

05-28-2004, 03:51 PM
What is he supposed to say?

"I can't play tennis worth a shit, and Xavier is gonna own my ass when we play."

And besides, he didn't say he was GOING TO beat him, he said he has a GOOD CHANCE.

05-28-2004, 03:53 PM
I dont think that was cocky. He only said he had a good chance to beat him
Anyone would say that.

05-28-2004, 03:55 PM
Hmm... Harvey, so if you were Costa, what would you have said?

05-28-2004, 03:56 PM
If Costa doesn't believe he has a chance to win, why bother to show up?

05-28-2004, 04:06 PM
yea, i think ur all correct...i'm just bored at work and was wondering if anyone would respond. Go COSTA

05-28-2004, 04:13 PM
nope I don't think it's cocky at all.

05-28-2004, 04:45 PM
Me neither.

05-28-2004, 05:17 PM
it's ok.

05-28-2004, 05:24 PM
albert has every right to be cocky: he has the best butt in tennis, so it wouldn't surprise me if he also had a great c**k.

05-28-2004, 06:12 PM
I think Costas remark says more about the merit of the St.Polten-tournament than about Costa himself ;)

05-28-2004, 06:28 PM
it's not cocky, it's nice what he said
i hope he can make his words true:D

I just want to say I praise you for your intelligent remarks. This is just one of the many.

It's pretty much equivalent to saying that you're draw looks good because a few top players dropped out and you're the highest seeded player left in there. You are favored so you think you should win and get through.

I had to read that a couple of times in order to get it... and I still don't. It looks to me like he said a whole lot of nothing.

Regardless, he has every reason to believe that he can come through his section. He didn't say as much, but if he did, I would see no problem that. He is a former champion, and last year pulled off a semifinal despite being in poor form. I don't see any reason that he can't do it again.
