Could Henman beat Coria now?

WARNING - SPECULATION only!!!!

I'm not getting ahead of myself cos i know the uncanny ability of Tim crashing out when he isn't supposed to but say if he met Coria in the semis and both are on their best form, could Tim somehow dig out a win Verkerk style (cf RG semi final last year)?

Just thought it would be interesting to see different view points.

lol, i think seeing that happen would make me cry :(

no, because coria defeated henman last year on fast hard courts, here it should be easier for him.

Coria has problems against big servers who play from the baseline like verkerk, henman has a very good serve, but he isnt a big server, and he net rushes a lot.
Different from Verkerk.

verkerk style? lol, what tim pounding down huge serves, and a powerful game?

as lurker says, he has a good serve. but it isnt a huge serve like martins

I don't know what i'd do to be honest! Cry a river probably! Probably also hit him cos he would ruin any chances of winning Wimbledon this year i would have thought - he needs to play a couple of matches on grass at least, before he goes. Even if he gets to semis which is looking very possible then he may withdraw from Queen's.

surely, he can play queens and then rest the week after?

Well he has been serving huge today! :) 19 Aces. I've never heard anything like it before. That is more than Duckboy in one of his average matches, and at least Tim managed to win in it in the process! :haha:

Hmm i don't know - he'll only get weekend's rest and Monday, perhaps even Tuesday? Remember he stil has the after effects of his virus and his shoulder does get stiff after a lot of tennis with little rest...if he lasts till Friday next week then it wouldn't surprise me if he withdrew Queen's and played Nottm instead.

Not on his best day will Henman defeat Coria on clay....

Henman will possibly meet Chela in the quarters-that is, if he can get past Llodra first (ok, that may be easy, but stranger things have happened), so he doesn't exactly have it "easy street"....

How about we just focus on the Llodra match.

Coria himself may yet have a chore on his hands against Ancic. If he and Tim were to meet on clay, Henman would be lucky to make it look respectable as he went down in three straight sets.

I just like to speculate but lol at your response!! :haha: It would be an interesting match up if they are both in excellent form but IF Henman were to get to the semis, his best chance would be against Moya I think, and even then it is unlikely he would win cos Moya has won the event before! :haha: You've got to make the most of the dream while it lasts guys! Henman hasn't often done well on clay.

Henman fans in cloud cuckoo land  and Wimbledon isnt even here :tape:

Carlos would take Henman out on clay as well.
Henman's ploy against clay courters is to bring them into net.
It works against the Blanco's of this world who only come to net to shake hands.

Carlos is pretty good at the net, and he does this to others himself.

Also Carlos has beaten Henman 3/5 indoors.

Look at the two clay meetings though - henman has come close. He has improved immensely in two years. IF Henman gets through to semis and plays Moya after he beats Coria in 5 hours (:haha:) then Tim might win!

sorry, but henman hasnt got the skill on clay, not as much as coria has anyway, coria has got the red stuff in his veins so just DONT believe that henman could ever win this meeting...............

henman beat coria in monte carlo 2 years ago after coria led 7-6 5-3 :), but id much rather moya beats coria

for henman, to make the QF will be as good as it can get i think, chela is red hot right now....but 1 match at a time..c'mon tim! end Llodra!!

Coria is a huge favourite as we know, besides Federer, but due to contrasting styles with Tim, I think if Tim is going to win this, he'll have match experience on his side and he'll need to put it away very well at net!

That's if he gets a chance to put anything away at the net! Moya, Coria and Chela will be able to hit passing shots at will if he approaches on an approach shot that falls as little as a centimetre shorter than recommended. Llodra won't be able to hit passing shots with great accuracy i wouldn't have thought.

His opponent was so good that Henman hit 19 aces.

Again, he will lose in 2 grass tournaments.
Some of his fans will think twice before bragging & insulting other players.
