:worship: :worship: to Mary for having the courage to speak the truth despite the fact that this excludes the Android and Duckboy...

She likes his game better than others. No dissing involved, and it's not like she said the rest of the #1 players sucked:p

apparently you missed the point when she made her statement. she was quite clear that she was referring to Edberg's likeability as a person. she specifically said that Roger Federer had the same likeable qualities and that he is "her favorite #1 Champion since Edberg". MacEnroe also said that Guga and Federer were the most popular guys in the men's locker room.

i didn't invent any of this. if you taped today's tennis you can confirm the truth of what i say. Mary skipped over the Android and Duckboy as likeable people. deal with it.

Did she say they were UN-likeable people? Yay, all I said was that She likes Fed more than any other #1 player since Edberg, I didn't see it as a diss to anyone, but obviously you did, i mean you just had to right?:retard:

I really liked what Mary had to say. She mentioned how Federer has such a pleasant personality and then they talked about how wonderful it was that he was mutli-lingual and that multi-lingual players such as he and Safin (and someone else who I can't remember) have to spend so much more time in the press room than other players because they can talk to different presses in the press's native language. She also mentioned how that is something that the Americans don't have to deal with (since they are not multi-lingual*) and that we should really appreciate Federer for all of the time he spends in the press box and how gracious he is.

It was actually a very good moment for Mary. And made me miss Stefan....

* eta- by multi-lingual I mean can speak more than 2 languages

Dick Enberg did. Roger is very very nice. Years back they said Roger and Rafter were the most popular. Glad to see he is still holding his title nicely.

Mary specifically mentioned Federer and Edberg. which inspired this thread.

but interesting that Dick didn't mention any of my countrymen either...:o

and i totally agree about Rafter. :D

:rolls: Yeah they didn't. Dick loved Becker and wanted to privately interview him but was never able to. I remember last year's wimbly, Mary said during the final games of the Rogi and Andy semi, "I haven't seen tennis this beautiful for more than 10 years". She really loves Roger. I hope his Guga match gets air time. She said Roger is very generous with the press. They love him even though US press doesn't really pay attention to him.
