Why is Davydenko playing a MM tournament so soon after the US Open?

I mean, you just reached the SF at the US Open, and you fly thousands of miles to Beijing a couple of days later to play in a MM tournie?

It doesn't make sense, points are small and "prize money" isn't big.

Maybe he just likes the city

He'll be the tournament favorite so there will be plenty of match fixing opputunities available.

He doesn't have a life. Seriously, would you want to be balding in your mid-twenties, playing tennis every single week, and having tennis newcomers point at you as they wonder what a 10-year old is doing on the tennis court. Davydenko is crazy.

How the hell does Davydenko in any way, shape, or form resemble a 10 year old?

Okay, maybe a 15 year old. His weight. I am not saying he should put on weight, since having the physique he does is best for his game style, but the guy is smallish. I remember I was at the Cincy tourney a few years ago, where he played Hewitt. When they came onto the court, he looked small compared to even Lleyton!

I have nothing against Davydenko. I just think he's a little bit crazy, in a not-so-bad workaholic type of way, and he would be the last top-40 tennis player I would ever want to be (except for Ljubicic, but that's for another topic).

No. Okay, I feel that I am losing this argument either way. I expressed my opinion, no matter how ridiculous. There's no factual evidence anywhere here, so this was destined to be an argument.

The commentators are very fond of bringing up this point whenever they cover his matches. Apparently his brother's answer to this question is that it's all a business to them. So it makes sense for him to play all these MM tourneys. He gets paid a ton for not expending much energy. Moreover, he only played 3 sets on every alternate day during the US Open so I doubt he's fatigued.

It's not surprising if I misinterpreted Stebs comment. If he was implying that all I do is cheer for Americans then he really couldn't be more wrong. You never answered my previous question initially and what are you going on about now? So why would Davydenko trash Beijing then? He got $$$$$$$$$$$ to turn up.

Yes, you like Yanks and the top players apart from Davydenko, who aren't necessarily American, but you think half of MTF everyone is anti-American :)

Bandwagon jumper definitely, but why should I use nationality a base for supporting players.

Perhaps not but there are a lot of tennis fans who can look beyond that and if you want personality then delve a little deeper and find out about the type of guy Davydenko is and he is probably more interesting than a lot of the players who you love because they shout c'mon on the court.

Oh dear. All the Fedtards have come out to attack me now.
Of course that's the usual response from you. Anyone says anything which isn't kissing your ass and it's "Stupid Fedtards". Your priceless even daring to come back in here after saying that all players have US passports.

Well certainly you struggle to cheer for people for tennis reasons and you make cutting remarks against any player who doesn't immidiately grab your attention and as I previously stated it doesn't take long to dig a little deeper if you want a personality.
