All this hating has got to stop!

This is my first post here, alhough Ive been an avid reader of this forum for a while now.

Im here because I love tennis, and I love that there is a place where people with the same interest for tennis as I have, share their thoughts.

However all this hatred between the people who like Federer and the ones who like his opposition is getting out of control I believe. A little banter is alright, and maybe there is sarcasm in there that I dont get. But you do not have to belittle one players ability to enjoy the other ones.
Instead shouldnt we celebrate that mens tennis is looking brighter and more competetive than for many years.

For Fed fans, nobody is saying that the new breed is better than Roger, but you cant deny yourself that these players are extremely talented.
Nadal is on his way to becoming the greatest clay courter ever and for two years, the second best grass court player.
Nole is 20, and this year is showing consistent improvement in GS, while being the second best player on hard courts.
There are Gasquet, Berdych and Murray waiting for there breaktrough.

So for me personally, Im really exited about the future of tennis and cant wait for next year!

Hello Xman. Good post.

I don't think it's predictable about Nadal's future because of his knees and the fact that his style is wearing on his body. Djokovic has made an amazing improvement ! I agree about him.

Newbie, don't mess with the current order of things. If you think this is bad, go to twatworld.com.

I think a separate forum for trolls (read RFK) and other anal retentives should be set up. The people who want to talk tennis and perhaps disagree some can stay here.

It was once proposed that there be a Nadal-Federer argument forum ;) I'd propose a Nadal-Federer-Djokovic argument forum

Yes, I proposed a Federer-Nadal argument forum.

When Djokovic wins a Slam, then he can get an argument forum.

Nadal had to build up his hatred to get his position and Nole should do the same, though he does have the fact that he beat Nadal and Federer in the same event in his favour. :)

Oh, come on! It's fun to argue about our tennis favourites. At least, it's not boring like snooker... :D And we are still far away from being football rowdies. :p

Hate owuld not exsist if people did not critisice rogers attiude and records. He deserves everything he has accomplished and he is not arrogant he is humble and always gives respect to other players. If we walked around saying nobody can beat me then i would understand.

But the haters are simply angry at how he controls the sport

So true :worship: A few years ago GM was a great place to visit to talk about tennis and exchange ideas. Yes - of course there were arguments and differences of opinion - (remember the whole Roddick US Open thing in 2003?), but they were mostly done in good humour and a lot more maturity than you find here now. Most of the original MTF posters don't even come to GM anymore - there's too much hating and stupidity, and they've all been driven away

Yup, even when I joined GM was a totally different place than it is now. A better place. But it was allowed to get out of control and morphed into what it is now. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to go back.

Difference is, it took two FO's for people to really start hating Nadal but Djokovic's rise to stardom was really fast track by comparison

Nice post - though I'm sure the hating and tardism will continue from several quarters. This is MTF after all and people can get obsessive over their favourites.

What do you mean? Because he is new, he canīt say what he thinks? Or you think the current order of things is so great it shouldnīt be messed with?
I agree with the original post, whereas arguments and disagreements belong in the internet forums, things have gotten somewhat out of hand. I donīt know how this forum was years ago, but at the moment some attitudes seem to be pretty distorted, as indicated by Glennīs intellectual response.

It has always been like this as far as I can remember. It just didn't concern your favourite and you didn't care.

WTAHell is a lot worse and yes the principle is still the same as I joined, the only thing is the percentages have dropped.

Get rid of Federer/Nadal, then it was Hewitt hatred along with Roddick hatred.

What I mean has two ways of being said: the first is that you can't be a newbie and come here thinking you're Gandhi, trying to change the world. Not gonna happen. The other way is summed very well by our broken prophet R=FK.

I felt the same initially...hence why I never joined for ages.
But eventually I learned to not be too afraid of speaking your mind...as long as you never take things personally...or certain posters seriously. ever.

There are many good posters here who engage in meaningful discussion...I stick around to hear what they say ;).
And not everyone is hostile...I have met a very large number of extremely nice and friendly people here.

MTF is still a million times better than TWATWorld and the TW or ESPN boards.

The 'tard wards are for the most part all in good fun. People like to tease one another. Sometimes it gets out of hand but it's not crazy-crazy.

Strong opinion is a good sign of a healthy sport. If people didn't care so much, this place would be dead. And so would the sport of tennis.

Welcome to MTF, btw :wavey:

Aww Xman youre so cute!!

I think MTF is good clean fun...the tardness keeps it going really. I act like a tard sometimes...other times i might say something constructive its all in the spirit of the board!

What I dont condole is personal insults on people for no reason but that dosent happen too often from my experience.
