Agassi accepts wild card into Queens...

Its about time Andre starts realizing how much lack of match play can affect ones game. I am glad he is going to Queens. There aren't many threats there. So hopefully if all goes well he will make it far and get match tough...

Glad to hear. Just don't crash out first round again...

He doesn't stand a chance of doing that well...even Ivo Karlovic could beat him. He can expect to get as far as the quarters but no further. Hopefully he'll think about taking a wilcard into the Nottingham too.

Cant wait to see who he loses to in the 1st round hopefully its Wayne Arthurs :)

:haha: Arthurs is no joke though - he could beat the very best on grass and hard courts. I have never understood why he has underachieved all the time. He should have appeared in more than 1 ATP tournament final in his career.

Go Andre...get those warm-ups even though you are one of the best to ever play doesn't mean you don't need to get some match play....

and, oh yea, Andre win it!

Why does he need a wildcard to enter Queen's Club?

Why does he need a wildcard to enter Queen's Club?

The official player list has already been released and he wasn't included. Therefore he could only play if the tournament gave him a wildcard or forced him to qualify - the latter might favour his need for match practice! :)

If I was Andre I wouldn't take that risk... better to lose in first round than to qualifiers.. :o

He entered too late. Why he didn't plan on playing Queens from the beginning is a mystery to me :o

and "There aren't many threats there"? hm... I disagree.

Several players in the draw can (and have, for that matter) beat him on grass. IMO he could easily go out early. Or he could win. Andre is sort of an unknown quantity right now I think lol

I back you on that once Bunk - there are many threats there - Karlovic, Ljubicic, Rusedski, Henman, Roddick, Coria, Hewitt....the list is endless! Agassi won't win it - the title is likely to go to either Roddick, Henman or Hewitt i think. Agassi hasn't got what it takes to win on grass nowadays. He'll just have to settle for being second best this year.

I would love to see Andre play against Roger on grass. Don't think they have played on this surface before. Counterpuncher vs All court/Serve and volley

The only one of those I'm not so sure about is Coria... I think Agassi would beat him on grass, but the others - definitely. But also don't forget Srichaphan, Philippoussis, Grosjean... they all play well on grass and haven't both Mark and Paradorn beaten Andre at Wimby? Granted he wouldn't meet those guys til later on, but there are still people, as you said, who he could meet earlier on who could certainly trouble him especially if he's still way off his game.

LCeh, I think Roger would embarrass Andre on grass.

Good luck, Homo Agassi. He did the same last year an he reached semis.

yea.... but he beat Luczak, Krajicek, and Malisse to get to the SF, then he lost to Andy who he had beaten all four times they'd previously played... so he didn't have to beat any of the people we listed who might be a real threat to him. But he'll benefit hugely from the fact that it's a 56 draw and 16 seeds... that'll keep most of the dangerous people away for at least a match or two;)

I think Roger would embarrass 99% of players on grass! :)

haha well yes. Would be interesting to see him and Tim go at it when they're both at top form :)

In fact, they are all good grass court players. By no means easy opponents on grass, not even for Agassi.

Hehe sorry couldn't resist! :)

Yeah that match would be ace if it happened particularly in a Wimbledon final. Hard to predict a winner even on their current form now. Much depends i think on who has the better run at the French and is kept off the grass for longer.

grass is Agassis best chance at a good slam run. With the lack of good grass court players with the right draw Agassi could use his power baseline game to get to at least the quarters.
Expect him to fall early at USO though.

Steffi must have cussed him into realizing that he has to choose between playing with the kids or working on his career.

and i still don't see what Cahill has added to his game. i've been asking this question for what, two years? :o

fascinating how it has come to this. There was a time when grass would have been the last place Andre could be expected to succeed, and his chances on clay would have been considered decent.

well players evolve, and so does the game. :)
