How do you percieve Djokovic right now?

Currently he's in a kind of "limbo", with respectable ranking-point gaps between him and both Nadal (1090 pts.) and Davydenko (1040 pts.). So - how do you percieve him?

A part of the trinity.

He needs to show lasting power before being inducted into any 'trinity' in my opinion.
Right now he is certainly better than the rest...and the most deserving of the world number 3 position this year. But that's it.

He is a 'could be' who still isn't.

my first answer would be.. with my eyes

na, serioulsy, voted Best of the rest of the world. A few good tournaments don't make the case. Maybe if he won the TMC beating the crap out of Federer (and that means without choking) he coul be the lesser evil of the trinity :D

I don't take any of these answers

he's #2 on hard, #3 on grass and clay. Slam results say so

I don't quite get you: those are objective results, but what do YOU make of them personally?

Yes - I'm sure some people will take exception to this, but my own view is that he is the natural successor to Roger Federer, and is a far more complete and talented player than Nadal. It would not surprise me to see him taking over the Number 2 position next year, and I'm sure he will become Number 1 when/if Roger decides to retire in say 4-5 years.

Ignoring the Nadal bit in your post because I know that you dislike him with a passion ;) but erm...how are you sure that Novak will be number one if Roger retires in 4-5 years? Who is to say that not another player we're not (totally) aware of is not going to step up.

A bit premature. It's possible, I guess, but it's premature

Djokovic is the second best player right now. Yes he is even better than Nadal imo.

Agree completely. Five years is a LONG time. Remember, when people speculated after USO '02 Federer was 13 in the world and nothing more than a promising youngster. Five years later and here we are, 12 time GS champion. It's a long time in the world of sports and particularly individual sports.

Furthermore, it is not as if we will be sure to see another consistent #1 after Federer falls off that spot for ages. I mean a lot of the time that position chops and changes and I get the impression that many people assume that the future will mirror the present but with different names. The last few years have been very far from the norm in tennis.
