With Roger taking 3 and Rafa taking 1, watching tennis becomes enjoyable for everyone in general.

If we have a third party entrance in this grand scenario, we'd really hate it.

Rafa's domination on clay and Fed's on the rest of the slams make for enjoyable viewing because it makes the rest of the tour look silly.

I will clarify the statement, as good as Fed and Nadal are, they need challengers and consistent challengers as well. Djokovic has shown something, but there needs to be others.

If I am a Federer fan who lives through his results, then it's great, though the collective panic by a lot of them when he loses a game is over the top.

Nadal fans bitching about Fed's dominance, but say it's ok that Nadal only dominates for part of the season and not the majority.

Believe it or not there are fans that appreciate the game, but not necessarily have a wank over Fed or Nadal.

You missed your ride on the circus. I wanted Federer to win, but research skills aren't exactly very high on your list.

Oh! saying hurry up and get to 15 Slams as soon as possible really refers to Djokovic.

When Federer starts declining and stops winning Slams, go find another sport.

Well Domination is never good for any sport let alone a sport like Tennis which is not popular amongst the general masses as a whole...

A select fan base enjoy a particular players success ,Now if that particular player dominates the whole season than definitely it is not great news for the sport as a whole...

If tennis as a sport needs to grow it needs a pool of atleast 4 to 5 players in the mix who have an almost equal stand for winning a tournament ...

Note: Its not these select players faults that they are so damn good(hats off to them) but you need more competition or else it becomes very very boring for the general masses point of view that actually come to see some exciting matches ,not some XYZ running over their opponents .
Again Credit to Federer's and the Nadal's for their respective brilliance but this sport needs more competition ...

I like tennis. I bitch sometimes about the graphite, because I prefer wood. But otherwise I like tennis, regardless of who is winning. I like Federer. I like Nadal. I like Djokovic. I even kind of like Roddick all of a sudden.

But I can't stand the bandwagon mentality of some of the media. I dislike their populism, their poor memories of the pros past, their orgasmic gushing over Federer. And all of the insincerity of the corporations that sponsor these events grates my nerves - not so much the fact that they are doing it, but the fact that people don't have a problem with it. There was a Rolex logo at Wimbledon in 1980 - it sat there handsomely and no one minded.

Tennis is money - that's fact; and most sports are. I accept it. But why do we allow these jack-offs flaunt the money in such a way? Why is Dick Enberg imitating Regis Philbin from "Who Wants to be a Millionare" when he presents Federer with a check of 2.4 million dollars to the collective orgasm of the crowd that acts like its lucky to witness the Swiss Ken doll strut his way out of town in his luxury car with a load of jack in the trunk? Why is some country's flag shoved in my face when I watch tennis on television? Why do I have to hear about God? Why do I need some uneducated hick, who may or may not be named John McEnroe, tell me that Federer is probably the best ever without bothering to elaborate?

There's good tennis out there, but don't we deserve more than having to tolerate our tv screens being infested with corporate logos and ears pierced with stupid jokes and unifinished ideas while points are being played? What happened to the quiet dignity of tv commentary in the 1960s and 70s when the guy would have the class to shut up and enjoy a point in solitude?

Is is the pot? Is it because it's illegal now in the US? Were they smoking it back then and does that explain why they were more laid back? Bring back the bloody pot. Let me enjoy my tennis. I don't care if you have the biggest stadium in all of the land. I just want to enjoy that crosscourt backhand in peace. Keep Liza Minelli in her cage.

I'll stop drinking soon.

It only means we enjoy watching the best the world has to offer doing their thing and we want them to take this sport to even greater heights. Federer is doing that ditto Nadal on clay. I'm sorry if you don't like it but your journeymen are just not good enough to represent our sport. If they can play like or better than Rogi/Nadal then we may have something to talk about. Damn, you speak the truth... I wish I could go back 4 years and appreciate the game alone. But I sadly can't deny that what you said applies to me as well. Just 3 GS short, it's just too close not to be consumed by the opportunity, esp. since we are talking about the guy who I rooted for even when he didn't have a single GS title...

Admittedly, this damn record prevents me of enjoying Fed's game anymore. But maybe it's not just the record, as much as the fact that he's been strangely passive lately.

Well, the fact that Federer and Nadal have been and are much better than the others, gives these players the yardstick for what they need to do to improve and challenge them consistently future and it will happen eventually.

It's tough for Federer as he is always reminded of these records, but he has to rise above that and handle it.

You are a consistent knee jerk reactionist especially when it comes to Federer.

Did you have a heart attack cause Federer was down set points in this final with Djokovic?

You said Roddick would beat him based on nothing, freak out over nothing and you prove my point clearly about being paranoid if Federer loses.

So why is Ginepri losing to Montañes on clay an upset then? My journeyman what are you talking about? So cause I don't fawn and arse lick Federer that means I had a bad day? Thanks for consistently showing your arse clown potential.

From a pure tennis fan nothing wrong with domination and what makes you think its bad for the sport, might be bad for fed haters i can understand that. But ain't you being narrow minded about it? look at MIchael Jordan dominated the sport in the early 90's but the attendance record back then tops even NBA attendance today. How about tiger woods more ppl know about golf then ever before because of his domination. Usopen tennis has had its biggest attendance ever in its history. Watching someone who dominates any sport is quite special and to be alive to see it is even better.
Fed just make's the difficult look easy and don't believe in that BS about stronger era's if fed wasn't around Hewitt, Safin, Roddick and Nadal would all have a share of the slams, Hewitt in my opinion would have won six or even more and we wouldn't be having these conversations.

I am happy about Federer winning the USO, I want to see him breakn Sampras's record and more. Rafa in his turn has the potential to win more than RG, and I think he can do Wimbledon next year. As for Djokovic he will prove to be a flash in the pan unless he proves himself by winning a g.s. Djokovic's problem is he talks way too much, and is not really respectful of others. However, he is young and he will learn. Until he starts being humble, like Rafa and Roger, i will not be his fan.

I feel the same way. Years from now I will feel immensely fortunate when I tell my grand children that I was around during the Federer era...and was able to witness its brilliance.
Much like I feel mild envy when my older relatives describe the days of Borg and Mcenroe.

People who appreciate the game want to see the best players win period. They are the ones taking the game to new heights and inspiring a whole new generation. Why should we settle for less than the best ? This is true...an era of also-rans (with a different mediocre person winning each slam) would be awful, rather than utter and total dominance derived from excellence - which just pushes the bar higher and further.

Thanks Scary Gorilla, but I've been force fed enough history. I enjoyed the '80s most, when legitimate HOFers McEnroe-Connors-Lendl-Wilander-Edberg divided up the pie.

As annoying as Sampras was during his reign--I was a Courier fan--to his credit, Federer has proven to be more so. (Yes, that was a back handed compliment.) When your dog's not in the race, Roger sure makes it easy to know who to root against.

Frankly, I enjoy the domination because the two of them make the rest of the tour appear like cartoons, and I think its UNREAL!

To top it off, both are excellent with what they do, Roger with his over-all game, Nadal with his athleticism and game-attitude, plus there's a rivalry between them that's not media-hype.

I don't want anybody to interfere with that. Only, a deserving someone more superior than them, in their respective zones should have the privlege of ruining this great run they are enjoying. Not someone from this lacklustre tour. This is something special we are witnessing.

BTW, Roger might get the Olympic gold but he's not getting everything next year. This was his last 3-peat glory year.

I very much dislike true domination. Who on earth wants to watch the blowouts like many of Federers slams or Nadal's RG last year and why? The more there are players who disrupt the pattern and can take it to the top guys, the better, even if they don't perform consistently on that level. 2004 - Federer, Gaudio, Federer, Federer
2005 - Safin, Nadull, Federer, Federer
2006 - Federer, Nadull, Federer, Federer
2007 - Federer, Nadull, Federer, Federer
2008 - Fakervic, Nadull, no champion, Federer
2009 - Nadull

Where's the variety? You gotta be joking me.

And I see you STILL haven't come to terms with Wimbly 2008. You wish you could say it was washed out :p
