Bud Collins: "He should've won!"

09-10-2007, 01:13 AM
Sore Loser Buddy! Should've could've would've, but Fed won. In fact, there was no way Djoko would win after the first set. You are telling me that Djoko had 2 more sets in him, after losing the first and had he won the second? Please, he was dead tired and Federer was getting warmed up. People don't seem to realize the pressure that is on Federer. He knows GrandSlams are going to be harder to come by with the likes of Djokovic, Gasquet, Murray, Berdych, and Nadal, so he knows he ain't have no room to fool around. He basically needs to grab AO and Wimby to tie Sampras. After that, any extra Slam is a bonus!

Fed will win 3/4 slams again next year for the 4/5 years.

One can say Fed should've won if he played better. He was playing poorly tennis thus letting Nole take the lead. But even if Djoke had won the first set, Fed would have upgraded his level and win it in four/five sets. With Fed, the other opponent can never be said to have ''should've won.''

What's truly amazing is Darth Fed wins another US Open playing B-tennis the last 2 matches. Bodes well for 2008!

Another thing, I'm so happy Darth Fed wipes Lendl and Mac from the history books. Only man ever to win 4 consecutive US Opens. Amazing, Roger.

Life throws many hurdles our way and only those who keep focus on their goals live out their potential and dreams to fullest without regrets. This makes it more interesting and more rewarding when the fruits of labor start bearing. For Nole this is just another hurdle, he has seen many before and when he gets over it and refocuses on his higher goals, he will be all the more happier when he does reach those goals .

Fed deserved to win. :worship: Djoker deserved to lose. :o http://www.jasatomic.org.yu/16042007/n1.jpg

Like a lot of other people, I try not to bother all the nonesense Bud Collins spits out. He should stop comparing Laver and Federer over and over. Of course, Laver is a respectful and great player of all time. But, we live in a much more competitive men's tennis era. Bud just wants to make Federer look smaller than what he actually is.

Coulda woulda shoulda.

If you don't take a million chances against an out of sorts opponent, you lose. Just ask Federer from his experience at this year's French. What was that ? Like 1 out of 24 chances bp conversion? :rolls:

He better not sending a "Kiss of Death" to Roger next year!

really? I should think he better step it up again to his A game since it's unlikely that either novak or rafa (or any of the other younger guys) will worsen.

I think ever since FO final when Roger dissed Bud, he is kind of anti-fed these days. Too bad. Listen to his interview at ESPN.com with Luke Jensen.

Who listens to Bud anymore???

what a loser... it's not like Novak had a match point, he couldn't even win a set!

09-10-2007, 09:21 AM
People cannt judge federer on his performance in the final we al know he is capable of alot better.

Most boring final he has ever played he was careless it felt like a normal tour match even the result. Three average close sets.

09-10-2007, 09:31 AM
The guy who's holding the winners trophy aloft is the one who deserves to win....end of!

09-10-2007, 10:27 AM
People need to realize that Djokovic is only 20 years old and now already in a Grand Slam Final, if you are that close to winning a set against probably the best player in the world, he would get nervous, I could understand that with the age of 20 and when its only your first Grand Slam Final.

09-10-2007, 10:33 AM
geez bud collins you must not like fed after he turn you down for an interview at wimbledon, properly because he read your other articles about him and really want to tell you to stick where the sun don't shine you old fart.
Should've could've, would've dosen't mean you deserve to win its who plays the big points better Nole didn't his problem not fed so get over it old man.

This is the story I found written by Bud Collins: http://www.boston.com/sports/other_sports/tennis/articles/2007/09/10/dying_to_pull_upset/

It doesn't quite gel with the original poster's interpretation. Just seems Collins took what he hoped would be a unique angle to writing the post-match story (something any reporter does), but in essence doesn't say anything more or less biased to Federer or Djokovic than the majority of stories.

ffs Bud, stop talking shit anymore, you're making people lose all respect they accumulated over the years
