IN: Mario Ancic

If Hrbaty continues withdrawning of the rest of the tournaments of the year, he'd finally in the 200th position (only a Quarterfinal, the best of him on the year, Casablanca), as he must defend 110 points of a SF in Vienna and a 350 of a Final in MS Paris.

Malisse and Söderling are out for the season with injuries.

Simon is doubtful as well.

Give the King a WC. I reckon LaLo will get a WC.

Yes... Dominating is the word. :o

Lopez has over 80% of the votes

Why couldn't they give him a wild card directly? The poll would have made more sense then...

Renaud

Yes... If lopez doesn't get a WC directly who will be the 3 others ?
I mean he is the only remaining spanish to be able to do well indoor ...
It's a bit surprising....

I can't think of another time that a draw wasn't release until just hours before the opening match of a tourney. why do you think they held of so long? gambling prevention? well, whatever it is, it is messing with my picks for the Madrid Racquet Bracket. Put on by the Tennis Channel (http://www.thetennischannel.com/) and is the same deal as the one they had for the US Open.

With only like 24 hours in between the draw going live and the start of the tournament you can save time by signing up now for an e-mail alert (http://www.tourneytopia.com/RacquetBracketMadridATP/MadridATP/default.aspx).

Strange that they would give a wildcard to Wawrinka. I'm surprised they don't award more wildcards to Spaniards given they have so many to choose from.

That's not really a special exempt, is it since Vienna is a lower level tournament than Madrid?

kiwi10is
10-13-2007, 10:51 AM
it was a SE for Wawrinka. Madrid has one SE Spot in the draw but I am a bit confused about that, too...

he conveniently has 2 charity events scheduled this weekend...he also played two exhibition matches this week so I'm sure the foot isn't too much of a problem...he's just very unfocused

That's what I ment by "Offical reason". I read on his website about a gala for his charity foundation that will take place today in his hometown. I assume he didn't start planing this two days ago so did he ever plan to play in Madrid? Anyway... he has a right for a private life and if he doesn't want to play Madrid that is ok. And do we know how serious this injury is? Maybe the ankle is ok for a charity match but not ok for daily practice or a match against Federer.

The Americans know more than me on this one, but I think his priority for the rest of the year is Davis Cup, with all other commitments being secondary. If he does have a niggling injury, he is probably not wanting to risk it...and it isn't as if his Shanghai place will be in jeopardy at the end of next week.

Yeah, he was wearing ankle braces on both ankles, but moved just fine to me. It might be something minor. I think he had these charity things already scheduled, but it's his life, he can do that if he wants to.
