Will this ever end? He and Philippoussis must be competing for some sort of record for crappiest season first-half ever.
Am gutted, really am.

Sorry, have you watched the match? Both Rainer and Ginepri?

The last time jez referred to Schuettler as Shitler, he thrashed Henman 3 and 1 in Monte Carlo, so pronouncements like these can come back to haunt you.

Ok then Lee, maybe he's not playing shit but he's certainly losing the matches you'd expect the lesser players like Philippoussis and Rusedski to lose on clay. Rainer ought to have won that match or at least won a set and you can't deny that.

Sjengster - i respect you greatly but how can you possibly count that match on the score line? Yes Schuettler would probably have beaten him anyway but not 3 and 1. Henman had that huge run in doubles plus all the singles he played went to three sets and lasted over 2 hours a go. Be fair!

May be you need to know how talent a player Malisse is. When Malisse doesn't have a mental collapse, he is a great player, actually greater than Rainer and more talent.

Rainer is not playing his best. I'm not denying that but please don't give all the credit to Rainer losing the match then Malisse winning the match.

 jez have you been watching tennis for a long time? what makes you think Malisse is a pushover??? It's a tough first round match.

Anyway, all the best for your next match Rainer!!! Dun give up!!! :bounce:

I don't think Schuettler was outplayed as such although i admit that i didn't actually watch it - only looked at the stats. He broke Malisse 3 times and therefore he had his chances and probably didn't play solid enough. There's a lot of unforced errors too from both of them. Sounds like neither of them played that well.

I've been watching it for 7 years and following it seriously for 6 years so i know about as much as the rest of you about the career of Malisse. I play a lot of tennis too which means that i do actually know what i'm talking about you know! My opinions are different a lot of the time and i respect that not everybody agrees with each other

It wouldn't have been as emphatic, but the way Schuettler was playing I reckon he'd still have beaten Henman in straight sets, it's a nice match-up of styles for him on clay. Unfortunately it seems that Monte Carlo run was one blip in the midst of a terrible season.

Yeah i agree with u sjengster - Henman wouldn't have beaten him. Cud have taken him to 7/5 6/3 or something like that. Rainer had a great tournament there and a great tournament in Rotterdam (he won 2 matches there didn't he?) and otherwise he has looked like a sorry state.

From comments I've read on Rainer's fan forum, Malisse played really well, but Rainer wasn't at the races at all from the start, he was not pumped up at all and showed no emotion whether he hit a good or bad shot. Normally when I see him yelling at himself, I take it as a bad sign, but it seems that he wasn't even motivated enough to do that much. German Eurosport is sure to show a summary of the match tonight, hopefully with a couple of interviews, so I'll check that out.
I would really love to know what is going on with Rainer, how can he play well (last week in Düsseldorf, at least until he met Massú) one week, then totally crap the next? So many times he's had a relatively good draw, only to fall at the first hurdle.
If he's not worried yet about this drop in form, he damn well should be.

I gathered that but you and a few others have such high egos that you seem to think that people like me are the ground that you tread on.

What's egos have anything to do with this? If you complain about how other people think of you, than you better look at how you talked about other people, you get what you deserved.

I really don't like Agassi but I won't say anything like you said about Rainer after his lost to Heahnel yesterday.

I think you should check all my posts and you'll realize that you're the first person that I post a message with an unsatisfied tone.

Perhaps it's the way you like to air your comments in a certain way and then after lots of discussion with others bring it to a compromise...

There's no talking to some people.
