Rusevski again in the top part of the draw. Dodig is a solid player but Predrag has 3:1 against him at Futures level, including one match this year in Bosina F3 in May!

It is a strange that he is not playing with Laze Magdinchev doubles, but probably he is tired after losing in doubles finals in Holland.

It is boring city, believe me. I've been there couple of times and it is kind of boring during weekdays.

It's not boring at all, in the downtown, t hat's shown on the picture.

The tournament takes place in another part though.But it's a good tournament.Anyway, I've been there today...

Tuksar (Hrv) : Propst (Avt) 6:3, 6:1;
Skugor (Hrv) : Wiesler (Nem) 6:3, 2:0, predaja;
de Veigy (Fra) : Kranjc (Slo) 6:0, 6:4;
Obradović (Srb) : Ocvirk (Slo) 6:4, 6:4;
Nakić-Alfirevič (Hrv) : Lessiak (Avt) 6:2, 6:2;
Mirnegg (Avt) : Zlatkovič (Slo) 6:4, 7:5;
Klizan (Slk) : Mlakar (Slo) 6:2, 6:1;
Semjan (Slk) : Ternar (Slo) 6:3, 7:5.

http://sportal.siol.net/default.asp?article_id=10061010709091326360

When I left, Obradovič led Škugor in the first set, I'm pretty sure, Tuksar took the 1st set against de Veigy, and I think Mirnegg was losing to Nakič Alfirevič.

Anyway, the players that played the best until now are in my opinion:

-Ternar really played great, great serve, a lot of free points from it, good baseline shots
-de Veigy played good, long shots with a lot of spin on them, used a lot of slice
-Tuksar played very flat and a great serve, great baseline shots, but was in a bit of a bad mood
-Obradovic played well, good 1 handed backhand, forehand & serve, didn't miss a lot of balls, was even more in a bad mood than Tuksar, but he was OK
-Ocvirk was unlucky to run into Obradovic, he played really really well on day 1, but was nervous today, he should of make the MD for sure, he has the serve, volleys, forehand, backhand, served & volleyed a couple times,...
-Klizan played awful in the first 3 games of the first set, but he dominated the rest.He played powerful and hit a winner off every weaker serve.

But I didn't saw all of the players, but these played the best in my opinion.

Karanusic could do a lot of damage here. He is coming after win in Ukraine challenger today so he is in good form.
Of course keep him away from the beer .
The reports from Umag were that he got drunk the night before MD match!!!

I've seen this guy on TV twice,and it is amazing how he got managed to throw so much talent into waste basket.

From hard court to clay :shrug: Plus Roko is better on faster surfaces, IMO. I don't think he'll be a title contender, but we'll see.

Yes but one could never know with him. He has actually good game for hard court, he has decent serve and plays very aggresive from the baseline.

However, I still think that he be a contender here , or the first two seeded Argentinians.
We'll see!!!

But I think that it is better if he gets a break and heal "the wounds" - heal the injury.

19:30 is quite early, no?

I hope you had fun :wavey:

Well, it started at 10:00 CET. 9 hours & 30 minutes of play.

I did have fun, but the weather is terrible.I thought it will be raining, because the morning weather was awful, but instead, we had 3 of the sunniest days in this time, right when the tournament started. :help: I got home all sun-burned.

Anyway, there were some good matches.

Žemlja put up a spirited fight in a weird match against Guzman, was losing 35 and won the 2nd set 76.And then it was just clear his belief that he could win was too low.He played badly in 1st & 3rd sets, and in most of the 2nd set.He can play better.On the other side, Guzman also didn't play his best.Guzman has a pretty good serve & forehand, Žemlja has the shots & is consistent, but wasn't decisive enough, didn't believe he could win.They were both very kind to the ballboys- Guzman said thank you on almost each occasion. :cool:

Semrajc was the player & surprise of the day.He really played a perfect match.He was always in control, almost didn't miss a ball, even when he had to pass from an awful position in the court.You could see the tension though- he went down *02 *0-30 and then won that game, then it all just went better.

Bozoljac is the most nervous & angry player of the tournament.Didn't watch his singles match- he commented every point, and he always ran to Montcourt saying "Come on".The umpire really did make many mistakes, as the ballboys did, but I guess he was acting pretty mean :p But in general he played well, great serve,... Montcourt really played badly. He almost didn't hit a return in, when they were 64 65 up.Krasnoroutsky & Koudryavtsev took a big last set lead, like 8-5, went back to 8-8, and they won 2 easy points.

There were some players that left the tennis centre late, like Guzman & Brzezicki, who streched after their match and talked a bit.

Going there tomorrow again :D :wavey:

This was the best day of the tournament today.

Tuksar-Kavcic was a classic :eek: :p

Kavcic was losing 45, but then he broke Tuksar for 65 & had 30-15 on his own serve.He totally choked the set away, losing 3 bad points & completely freezed in the tie-break, losing it 7-2 I believe (7-3).So, Tuksar won the first set 76.Kavcic really looked down after the first set, but he picked his game up, and really played attackive to the end of the second set.His game is all about forehand, maybe sometimes also a tough serve, and his backhand improved.Well, anyway, he got the 2nd set 64, after I didn't think he could win it.The momentum shifted- Kavcic had the momentum in his favour, and made a good start to the set, no man had problems on serve.And then Kavcic started to barely walk because of big cramps in his leg.He tripped after every point, and then really it didn't look like he could win it.Then there were some tough games & Kavcic was just too inspired, Tuksar was down all the time like he doesn't care.And that's an interesting thing- Tuksar always wanted to receive the balls from the ballboys from the right side of the court.He was pretty mean if anyone moved on the left side if he (ballboy) was running down the ball from the other side.

Maybe more reports later. :D

Oh, and Beck was playing the best tennis today. Dutra Silva couldn't do nothing, but Beck besides that he has a huge serve, he has both groundstrokes.And he didn't miss 1 single ball today I believe.Maybe 1 or 2.

Klizan-Junqueira was stopped because it rained in the morning here, (the whole day was really hot, but it started to rain normally at the start of Kavcic-Tuksar, but they were playing) and the court wasn't OK, the other courts were good.So they stopped the match for a bit.

I saw a comment on Kudryavtsev before, that he could make top 100 next year.Well, it is possible, he has big shots, but misses many of them.He led 53 40-15, just lost his nerve and wrecked 3 balls in nowhere.Then he lost 57 in the second set...Mirnegg didn't even have to do a lot. :eek:

No, but really Beck played outstanding in the 2nd round, and I didn't expect that good tennis of Junqueira :eek: I just slightly saw him playing the other day, so I didn't get the picture.

If anybody wants any special report, tell me :p

Semi predictions:

Junqueira-Mirnegg: Junqueira in 2

Montcourt-Guzman: Guzman in 3

Because of WTA in Portoroz.

So people, linesmen, and some of the important tennis people here could go in Portoroz.

I think it's surprising ;) It wasn't a very strong field, but there were some players that had more match rhythm and are very dangerous on clay.

It is kinda surprise win.

But Mirnegg was playing unbelieveble, better with every match.I would never predict him as the winner.Allthough it was a bit "lucky" because all of the players that played against him had their chances, but no one could finish him off.

He lost a set in the first round
Kudryavtsev had 3 set points against him on his own serve
Even in the qualifying, Zlatkovic I think had set points
Junquera had 4 match points
Montcourt had 5-4 30-0* and Mirnegg fought back

I rooted for Mirnegg though, he was OK.

And I guess it will be a better field next year, cause the players in general couldn't say anything better about it.And in my opinion, it was a really really great tournament, and players couldn't like it more.
