Our preachers like the above driving people away from religion.

How do religious people explain the actions of the so called followers of God.

P.S. If you are athiest this clip will be beyond funny.

Sigh

I really hate to see my religion being spoken of in this manner

Unfortunately, these are the types of people that many think are par for the course of Christianity

Do you think this guy is for real, man? Like he has a show on cable or something and can't even afford a fake glue in tooth or something? Please.

Got me. In the comments section someone states he was on public television in LA.

Heres another example which looks 100% real:

Same questions and comments still apply.

Don't know about the first clip (didn't watch the whole thing actually) but the second one looks real. I've seen a lot of people like that.

I don't really think that preachers drive people into Atheism. It drives them away from religion, sure, I know that because I have experienced that first hand. The priest at my church has done a lot of different things then the previous priests and has effectively drove people away from the church. There are plenty of people I know that aren't religious but believe in God. From my perspective, that's all that really matters because religion has become too technical.

This is all just my opinion of course and I'm not really looking for a debate because I'm too tired and will too busy the next few days.

LOL, Nah I am not into Jedism.

I believe there is a GOD, but that most organized religions are corrupt and just exist to make money.

Organized religion does more harm than it does good. It's always been that way and it'll continue down the same path until man stops distorting the words of "God" for their own gain.

The title of your thread is not related to what you are talking about. What you meant to say was that people are losing interest in the Church. True atheists and potential atheists are not swayed by some silly video. They arrive at the truth by simply applying their own powers of reason.

Unless, of course, athiesm is a new cult of which I am not aware.

No argument.

Organized religion will be downfall of human kind.

There are no words of ''God.'' All the so-called ''holy'' books were written by mere humans.

Of course, I doubt God came down and spoke to anyone. The books were written to exploit people out of their cash.

You mean atheism.

And, well, no surprise. Look at the options we have for religions in the world.

Well the major religions appear to be warlike in every way.

I don't know what [the clip of the guy] he was saying!? You know...biatch... that's all I could make out, I had to turn it off after 30 seconds! :rolls:

The woman was scary. Very cult-like. Her excited hyperactive rant reminded me of Marie from Everybody Loves Raymond, for some reason...

You can't keep the crackedpots of religion anymore than anyother sector. Having said that, organized religion has been its own worst enemy. As long as fudalmentalists continue reject widely accepted theories like evolution, Christianity anyway, will look like a sadly archaic institution.

If Christian churches would keep to the business that Jesus laid out as the work of Christians, the world as a whole might have a different view of us. Unfortunatly that has not and is not often the case. All I can say is, don't judge Jesus by what humans have done in his name, judge him by his own words and teachings in the New Testement. Like I told my 11 yr old today, do your own research, make your own conclusions, dont' just take someone else's opinion as your own. :)

But since Utube wasn't around 2000 years ago, anything that a person called Jesus might ever have said was not recorded. So already you are asking your child to take someone else's much-filtered opinion as the opinion of Jesus.

Never gave it much thought before, but the Bible and Koran can't both be the word of God, unless he has a sense of humour. So which one is the word of God?

Your original premise is incorrect. Rejecting religion is not the same thing as disbelief in God. The fact of the matter is that a staggering majority of the world's population believes in God in some way, shape or form. And interestingly, the Jewish, Christian and Islam faiths all worship the same God of Abraham.

Well, when I told her to make her own opinions I meant on all subjects. And yes, the teachings of Jesus were written down by others and subject to interpretations over time. Still it is as, if not more dependable than any other historical writings from that time and as a Christian, I have faith that those who have written it were guided by God. (the latter not an agrument accepted by ahteists obviously)

Is atheism rising? So may people are becoming religious around the world or spiritual which is just another word for religious.

We're just in the same point of the history of faith as the Roman Empire about AD 100. Mix of religions with one particular "on top", but falling down, yet still no sing nof the new dominant (if any occur)
