maybe it has to do with appearence money and thailand pays a lot of appearence money and tennis isn't popular sport in india so i assume mahesh didn't wan't to waste too much money. Still gasuet, hewitt and safin are more than enough for fans to attract and yeah jarko nieminen is also playing in mumbai.

No player in top ten and only 6 players in top 40

I think many players in last year don't come back because they feel bored according to it rained very often last year which cause final round postpone to play on Monday on next week. They don't want to risk for missing next week tournament. Last year Tursunov almost miss Japan open and playing final on Monday caused him too tired when he played in first round in Japan.

If it rains often again espicially in Semi final and Final maybe next year Safin, Hewitt or Gasquet won't come back again because they might miss next tournament.

Lleyton and marat are former world number ones. enough said
Just take a look at the field in china. The cut off there is 140 or something.
PHM,Santoro,O rochus are pretty good players as well
Thailand pays a lot of appearence money for sure. they did a good job
I'm they spent around 3 Million dollars to get to get a lot of top players.

Tursunov won his first title here. you could say rain helped him to win his first title. Before that he has zero titles.
BTW he isn't going to get that opportunity to win another title in thailand.

BTW why is james blake or ivan ljubicic returning back to thailand. ? ;lol:
It doesn't rain there.? does it?

first of all mumbai only started hosting from last year. How can you can you say it often rains in semifinals and finals?

As safin, hewitt or gasquet will comeback if the price is right. otherwise mahesh will find other top players. Maybe federer could

They have spent enough money to feed some countries in Africa :o

Yeah, players surely commit to a certain tourney looking at the weather forecast first

If I don't have exams during the tourney, I'd probably book the first flight to Mumbai

no no, i really hope that karan doesn't get a wc because he has been in awful form of late. In all honesty I hope that the Tennis association decides to give a wc to Aisam Qureshi in addition to Rohan, somdev, or possibly praksh.

I guess the Mumbai tournament wasn't a big success among the players last year...

Well, I guess it can be hot as fuck this time of year in Mumbai. Also, word leaked that the tournament is no longer offering complementary elephant rides to the players, and that was of the biggest lures for the event.

2 Singles Wild cards to Rohan Bopanna & Somdev Devvarman.

Doubles wild card for Somdev Devvarman & Stephen Amritraj.

They are still to decide on third singles WC. It may be given to a top 30 player who is likely to replace Safin.
