Why are female tennis players so boring?

Theyre all the same. In mens tennis u know what each players like. Youve got players like Spadea, Tursunov, baghdatis and many more who r just known for being themselves. Women tend to stay so reserved during interviews, barely joke around and are just all like davydenkoettes. Im not saying theyre mean people, i like many of the women on tour including ivanovic, vaidisova, penetta and Mauresmo who all seem like very nice people but theyre just not like the ATP guys.

Davydenko is actually quite funny, but not everyone sees that.

Well the WTA are more image conscious.

Davydenko knows what he is saying, just cause a guy has a boring tennis style for some, doesn't mean they are boring or lack humour, that's just lazy.

Ive seen him in interviews.. I like his game. Hes in my sig coz of his tennis not his humor.

I don't like women's tennis because too many 6-2 6-2 matches in the early rounds. Moreover almost every woman plays from the baseline with two handed backhand what is for me irritating and boring. I watch only semis and finals in the Grans Slam events :)

A quote from WTAW...It's a report from a doubles match from San Diego:

chakvetadze/azarenka d. vanc/rodionova:

so, singles matches had ended and my friends and i review the schedule to see if there are any doubles worth seeing, when i spot rodionova's name. i was hoping she'd be up to her usual antics (and she did not disappoint!) but thought even if she wasn't, i'd like to see anna and vika again. so we quickly head over to the side court and get there as the warm up was underway. as we sat there discussing some of rodionova's blowups, little did i know, things would get as crazy as they did and that my friends and i would actually be involved!

drama erupted almost immediately! while anna was serving to vanc, rodionova was shuffling her feet back and forth, making that squeeking noise shoes make on a hard court. anna complained to the umpire and immitated what rodionova was doing, which was hilarious to see!

now rodionova is serving to anna, and while mid way through the serve, vika starts purposely shuffling her feet, making that squeeking noise. my friends and i lost it and started laughing, which caused vika and anna to start laughing in the middle of the point (vika and anna still won it)!

vanc and rodionova go the umpire to complain, and while they're complaining, i call out, "go anna!" and anna and vika look over and start laughing again and anna does a little fist pump! needless to say, rodionova was not amused and we seriously thought she was going to launch a ball at us!

instead, she takes her anger out on anna! she launched at least 6 or 7 balls directly at anna, hitting her about 3 times! one hit anna on the arm, which had to hurt, but anna just laughed each time she got nailed. the most flagrant attack came when rodionova was serving to vika and instead of serving into the box, she aimed directly at anna up at net, who got hit in the legs as she tried to move out of the way of the ball! again, anna just laughed, which irritated rodionova even more!

throughout the match, anna would mock rodionova by pumping her fist in an exaggerated manner and yelling "come on!" once she even did that lleyton hewitt thing, pointing her hand back at her face! total comedy. rodionova was seething!

then rodionova gets a bad call that the umpire wouldn't overrule, which i thought was totally gonna push her over the edge! she yells out, "what is going on?! are you (the umpire) just here to call the score or are you going to actually officiate?! they (anna and vika) get to do whatever they want, and you can't even watch the lines! what the hell?!" of course, this outburst had anna, vika and my friends and i laughing again.

anna and vika end up winning 6-4 6-4 and we're eagerly anticipating the exchange at net. the players are about to exchange hand shakes, when vanc pulls her hand away, takes off her sunglasses and begins lecturing anna and vika, while rodionova stands there staring at them. the reprimand ends and the players walk back to their chairs when rodionova stops and begins yelling at anna (it's times like this when i wish i spoke russian). well, anna wasn't having it! she starts yelling back and unfortunately, it didn't get physical :p but for a moment there, it looked like it could...

good times. i've never been to such an entertaining and interactive doubles match in my life!

hope you guys enjoyed the report...it turned out longer than i expected...

imo, there are many characters in both WTA and ATP. I could really give lots of examples from both tours
I also don't find the tennis of ATP much more exciting, they are certainly more likely to have very boring matches, for example, where all that happens are big serves.

One more quote about the second player in WTA Tour story to be disqualifyed:

***Update***
Apparently some fans were cheering in the middle of a point. Rodionova lost the point. Chair ump tells the fans no cheering during the point. Couple games later, Rodionova whacks the ball at the wall in frustration. Chair ump calls the tournament referee, William Coffey, over to the court. Tells him what happened. Coffey defaults Rodionova (that's tennis jargon for throwing her out of the tournament). He says later she was guilty of conduct unbecoming a tennis player or something like that. Also said there was danger involved because she hit the ball halfway up the wall in the direction of where the fans who were clapping earlier were sitting. Then it started to rain.

==================================
I missed most of the Chakvetadze match because I was in the interview room listening to Rodionova give her side of the default story.

The most memorable quote: “If you’re afraid of the ball, don’t sit in the front row.”

Rodionova also said of the chair umpire: "Maybe she didn't sleep well enough."

On a more serious note, Rodionova said she was told that she was DQ'd because she was trying to hit the three fans who were talking loudly, clapping and generally being the antithesis of typical tennis fans. Rodionova adamantly denied that, and said she hit the ball in the middle of the wall, "the safest place to hit it."

"I'm shocked. I still don't understand why they defaulted me," she said.

It's worth noting that tournament referee William Coffey did not see the activity, according to Rodionova. Rather, he was called to the court via walkie talkie by chair umpire Yvette Kahn who relayed the situation to him.

It took Rodionova about 2.5 hours to meet with the media afterward. She said she would have done interviews earlier, but she "couldn't stop crying."

When a grand slam final can be won by an overweight player, having not played in about 8 months, and wins the final against #2 in world 6-1, 6-1, you see just how much of a joke a tour is.

Yeah, but there are much more slam winners on WTA. They might not have as great slam finals, but it's more obvious who's going to win tournaments in the atp.
Therefore, wta is actually more competitive

Well besides their game, which i dont need to mention how monotonous it is, i was mostly referring to their personalities. They dont have the odd vince spadeas! They dont ever appear on tv like The atp tennis show, or tennis pro.. Thats what i mean.
And speaking of game, i was watching vaidisova vs. i dnt remember who yesterday. When she slice a backhand she looked so odd! She actually sliced it, probably my mistake. They (well most of them) need to know they cannot try to fernando gonzalez and hit 2 handed backhand passing shots from the corner of the court.

Never as monotonous as the big serving crap that was on show throughout Washington last week

I'd say there are about as many in WTA as ATP.
Not even Kiefer or Stepanek and certainly not Spadea rapping compares to Rodionova. There are lots and lots of others too. For example, Zvonareva cries for no reason sometimes.

Koellerer and that buffoon Pashanski the WTA have nothing to match that, though do they want to compete with that.

What brainless baseline ballbashing is better than servefests, they are as bad as each other.

ok, Koellerer maybe, but Rodionova is very close i think. One day she too will change the score on the scoreboard :rolls:. As for Pashanski, I guess he's a character, but not one that is entertaining, rather one that is disturbing, i'd say both tours would be better off without someone like that.

I'd rather watch brainless ballbashing personally.

I do prefer the ATP, i'm just saying that on mtf the stick WTA gets is crazy and the players there also have characters.
