1) I learned of many nations' flags. I now know what Switzerland's and Scotland's flag look like thanks to the members of MTF. Seriously MTF is way better than any geography book.

2) I learned that not only Americans are idiots. :p

3) MTF helped me to like slash. Thanks MTF.

Helped a lot to practise my English

Helped in my Pyschology exam where during the speech I was describing sociopathic behavior of posters as in a community

Helped in the sense that I can practise investigation/defense here as a law student ;) Last year for example I could bump into any random thread in GM and defend the randomly bashed player, doesn't matter if I agreed with what I was saying or not, just to outspeak the others on arguments, and I must say I was very successful  It gave me much confidence :)

1. I love the way the poster's personality emerges with the way he/she writes.

2. Learnt (and still learning) the many flags of the world.

3. Great to know how similar human thinking pattern is even though we are nowhere close to each other physically.

4. Love the spread-out of this community. It functions as
- A forum for serious tennis discussions.
- The trolls and tardism(They provide the breathing space between the serious posts)
- Outside of tennis, we can discuss anything or even chat as in a chatroom but it is more fun here, knowing you can not only chat but also discuss tennis with the same bunch of posters. Its like...I don't need to login to another place
- Terrific emoticons (I hope Vertiloscope Communities expands the range even further)

In real life I work as an attorney/mediator for/between people involved in silly civilian brawls.

MTF provides me more insight on how silly people can actually be, day by day. Everytime you think you've seen it ALL, something even more silly pops up :yeah:

Helped me improves my language skills. Before I joined to MTF, I never had an opportunity to write systematically in English (excluding something in school). It helped me also understand better other nations although I know that MTF isn't the whole picture.

It has taught me that communicating online can be very challenging without the help of smilies to convey your actual mood (or pretend that you are laughing when you are crying and so on)!

It has been a waste of time, but a good waste.

EDIT to add mood emoticon: :D even though I am typing with nary a smile on my face. (And I did not just shrug)

I have been lucky enough to talk with many MTF members, who are just really kind people from all over the planet, getting together over a shared love for tennis. To have an opportunity to learn about them and their experiences has been the best part of belonging to this particular online community.

Helped me find a free place to stay in UK and now, (thank you, you-know-who-you-are!), in France.
Although, it wasn't on MTF that all this started.

1. The flag thing (Although now the pop-up flag message only reads, "country flag")
2. New words in German, French. New Spanish idioms.
3. Improved familiarity with the surname-geography thing (sometimes)
(Must Russian Davydenko have a Ukrainian connection, am I thinking of the wrong Soviet member, or am I totally stupid?)
4. Photographs that let me live vicariously, because basic cable TV only introduces me to the players who make it to semis and finals, provided ESPN is willing. Ana Iva what? Potito who? (Thanks, y'all.):worship:
5. Tennis history with which I'm not familiar. Okay, and gossip, too.

What would my life be without not only Vamos! But also Allez! Ajde! Davai! etc etc :p

I wouldn't say it's top class comedy, but it is funny nonetheless. This would be a darker place without RFK.:worship:

1. Don't mess with fans they become quite agresive.
2. A day has only 24 hours so you can't cover all the threads that you want/like with your posts
3. People are not unique in their obsesions
4. English
5. Meet new people and make friends.
