Davai Marat! be awake right from the start today! It's unfortunate that you have to start serving, but you can't change anything. I want you to start like yesterday. Win the first two games, like then and that's it. Get out of there.

Marat's next opponent has an unusual last name, starace. He may be a future star and he looks a bit like ace Ivanisevic. Even his first name sounds fun-potato or whatever it is. Anway I doubt that his will continue with his 10 match streak and Marat will beat him.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Cheater, Italians rarely do well in competitions liek this but when one of ou rplayer shave half a chance against such a bign name, the big name has to cheat.

How does it feel to cheat a way to victory against number 202 in the world. BOOOOOOOOOO

Come on, he didn't break any rules and you most certainly can't call it cheating. Being mentally strong is part of the game. Otherwise you'll lose. Safin proved stronger.

You call that being strong mentally, 4-5 down at deuce then calling for trainer, its called cheating, its not against the rules but its blatantly obvious what it is... booooooooooooooooooooooo

Neely
05-30-2004, 10:49 AM
yes, and exactly because it is not against the rule it is not called cheating

Starace was good and had a nice run, but he was not good enough to make the big points on match points. Safin just has too much experience pulling out a 5 setter.

If the match had continued then Starace may have won that game, he only lost it because once Safin called the trainer, at his position in number 202 in the world he got nervous when thinking about it too much. The french crows realised this

But then again what do I expect coming on to a forum who only likes the big name players. If Starace had did the opposite there would be so much about how Potito cheated, but when Safin does it, he is prooving how experienced he is.

If thats the way he needs to beat Number 202 in the world, then fine... the fact is This was Starace's first ever tournament and he only got to this round because of an easy first round opponent and playing Grosjean when he was not feeling well... I hope Safin now gets ripped apart by Nalbandian like he deserves to be.

Ih and this may not be against any rules, but the only reason why a rule is not in place for this is because some people do actually get serious injuries at serious stages of matches.

"He lost only because Safin called his trainer"
Look every player has the right to call for a trainer if he has an injury that prevents him from playing as well as he'd do normally as the blisters Safin had. Maybe you're right that if Safin had continued with this injury Starace might have won because of the annoyances it caused Safin.
I don't like any player because he has a big name, I'm being objective.

Marat, Keep your head cool or you might lose.

Champion number 1

Basically I am over this now and will give him good luck for David Nalbandian match, but I want Nalbandian now... Safin used to be a fave player of mine, but he isnt anymore, but I will give him the respect he deserves.

As for him calling the trainer, its fine, but blisters dont just appear on your hand after 4 sets... he could have called the trainer at 3-3 or 4-4 but not deuce when returning to stay in the set, he admitted to gamesmanship already I hav heared. Which shows he is in the wrong, it is unfair to say Starace should be able to keep hsi head, he is number 202 in the world and never had this match before, it would be hard for him.
