Wilson and Evans through. If Yani and Isner also win, all 4 semifinalists will be American.

I went to Lexington today.

Jamie seemed a bit tuckered out after all the matches he's played in the last eight days. :awww: His 1st serve percentage wasn't that great and he was really having to work at holding serve. Wilson was much fresher, served better, and played a solid game.

The other SF - Evans vs Isner - started out like a normal match but by the third game they both started claiming the ball was out whenever they got aced  and seemed to agree the ump was blind and kept pleading for overrules (neither player got any during the match). However at about 4-4 it became personal between the players  as they started outbursts towards each other but at the end they still shook hands. There were no breaks of serve the entire match though Evans did struggle more on his service games. In the end a few UEs in each tiebreak gave the match to Isner. BTW for those who haven't see Isner he's 6'10" - I felt like a dwarf when he walked past me (though it was nice he managed not to elbow me in the head) and he even made Evans look small. :speakles:

Men's doubles final was quite class. First time I'd heard of let alone seen Hutchins who to be honest I'd never suspect was a Brit until he opens his mouth. Evans and Sweeting played quite well together. They are the only guys I've seen who don't call each other off the ball and yet didn't hit each other's rackets nor run into each other. :worship:

I watched part of the women's matches too - nothing too earth-shattering but I thought it was quite interesting to see in both singles matches there was a lefty and the doubles final featured a southpaw on both teams. I play quite a bit like Julie Ditty I discovered.

And it's Hutchins, Not Hutchinson :p

He has a big serve (obviously but there was no radar to clock it) and his groundstrokes are solid but he feels content to just keep the ball in play and doesn't really go for winners. I think he moves pretty well considering his size. In contrast Evans made flashier shots but also more errors.

Okay I fixed his name :ras: I said I'd never even heard of him before. By the end of the doubles match he was in bad need of a shave. :p And I thought it was a bit strange he was wearing Diadora.

Thanks for the description :D

I guessed the big serve  He's shooting up fast after college though. Good to see him finishing his education before making the steps on the ATP Tour.

The PDF at ATP's official site has Isner as the champion, with said score.

dudi_fan: He's #745, but this was only his 4th tournament of the year.

isner winning shows all of us that the best of the college tennis game can also play at a very high level in the pros. going through the ups and downs of college tennis really toughens up a player mentally.

Is he a serious threat for Henman?

Hutchins has a sweat disorder which prevents him from playing singles but is on the cusp of TOP 100 doubles
