I was really hoping for Tsonga/Roddick :( That would be a quality match, Andy will beat Richie in 3.

I didn't see him going past Mahut, I'm happily surprised of this Wimbledon so far. No set lost, not even a tie break to play. And a tricky draw with that.

On this form, he can mount a serious challenge to Roddick. But he hasn't been seriously tested, and we know that when the situation gets tight that Richie tends to crumble.

Gasquet played more at ease than I remember him recently.

Would it kill him, though, to dress up with some class? He looks like a white rapper with the cap and the big shorts. The short stubby legs look even shorter and stubbier with those parachutes he's got on.

Allez Richard! Great result! I hope he challenges Roddick. I'd expect him to win because to me he clearly has the game to do it (on any surface), but he really has not been tested so far. Congratulations on your first GS QF! Hopefully the first of many! :D

:woohoo: Smart, well played match Richie

Wish he was in Djokovick's quarter, or even Nadal's - with his current form he could take either of those on grass. It's not impossible against Roddick (but very unlikely). Good Luck Richie!

Gasquet groundstrokes and net game are better than Roddick's but Roddick's serve will probably determine the match. If Roddick doesn't serve so well and/or Gasquet returns it well, than Gasquet will have the advantage. Andy is 2-0 vs Richard but it's only a matter of time before Richard turns it around, he is immensely more talented than Andy and much more fun to watch!

Surprising how little fight Tsonga showed. A lot of people compare him to Monfils, that is where is they are different.

As expected a comfortable win. Chance here for Gasquet to finally become a top 10 player.

He's playing really well and he can beat Roddick. No, he will beat Roddick :) (or lose in typical 5 set fashion)

still getting past the 4th round is a big step and Richie does tend to go deep in he wins a few matches in a tournament.

Did Tsonga serve and volley much? Doesn't Richie usually struggle against serve and volleyers? I know Henman once beat him like 6-2, 6-2 while in awful form.

Tsonga is great at the net but he stays back on his serve the majority of the time. And Henman beat Gasquet 6-4 6-4 twice last year. :)

come on Gasquetaires, admit it that richie21 was right when he said that grass is his best surface and you were taking the piss at him

Gasquet has really good passing shots t needs very very good volleyer like henman in a good form to pass Gasquet. Other players like Mahut lost many points when going at the net and be crucified by incredible passing shots.

I don't think anybody reckon grass isn't a good surface for Gasquet. He has won Nottingham two times for some reasons. But he also got strokes to play on clay for instance, something that richie21 was laughing about and that I quite disagree with. In the end his contradictions and constant changes of mind/mood is probably what has embarassed the most people around, not to mention the fact that he'd be able to bring Gasquet in every tennis-related conversation.

It was a time when Gasquet was losing to pretty much anyone, hard to draw conclusion from this.

Tsonga is not the classical serve and volleyer, much less than Mahut, though he can play at the net. But yesterday he committed far too many errors to be a threat.

i think gasquet has a good shot at roddick, defiantely a much better matchup then federer/ferrero on CC. Tsonga made too many errors in this match to give himself any chance.

Good performance by Gasquet and he will have a tough time against Roddick but if he keeps up the form he can make it tight.

So was Tim, that was my only point. It was an easy win when Tim was in bad form.

And I know Tsonga isn't normally a serve and volleyer - I just asked if he served and volleyed much in that match, because I think that would have been a good tactic.

EDIT: Just looked at Tim's record, and I guess he wasn't losing that badly after all. This season has been much worse.
