Congrats Nole, the last 3rd round match to finish.
Djokovic df. Kiefer 7-6 6-7 6-2 7-6CassL 07-04-2007, 12:00 PM Congrats Nole, the last 3rd round match to finish. LocoPorElTenis 07-04-2007, 12:01 PM :yeah: Neely 07-04-2007, 12:04 PM Now the match is finally over! Nevertheless good play of Kiefer so far, I was positively surprised and I hope he can continue like that and even improve to get the needed strength in the little deciding situations as well, even though he did quite well saving many critical situations. lucashg 07-04-2007, 12:08 PM Good win by Djokovic, and good tournament for Kiefer. It's nice to see the "asshole" back. rrfnpump 07-04-2007, 12:08 PM Craptastic match, Kiefer could not win a baseline rally for his own sake. :help: The forehand was awful, mostly landing at the bottom of the net, backhand was more solid, but it lacked depth and pace. He also was not serving well and his volley stops usually didnt work. Bad performance from him, but considering he is just coming back it is ok. He still has such a long way to got. Novak played like shit, he should have won the fourth set 60, but missed so many BPs, I think 0/8. He dominated all the baseline rallys though, but too inconsistant also. cc2monac 07-04-2007, 12:10 PM poor nicolas...he played a great match! anyway, congrats to djoko! savesthedizzle 07-04-2007, 12:11 PM Finally Nole is through :) Fourth round against Hewitt tomorrow is :scared:. I remember their match last year at the USO all too well. :tape: He will have to play better than this. JMG 07-04-2007, 12:11 PM We would have needed hawk-eye at match point. Fergie 07-04-2007, 12:12 PM Nice try Kiwi  Rafa = Fed Killa 07-04-2007, 12:13 PM Nice work Djoko The Pro 07-04-2007, 12:13 PM Happy Happy Happy ezekiel 07-04-2007, 12:14 PM a win is a win, let's go against Hewitt tomorrow rrfnpump 07-04-2007, 12:15 PM We would have needed hawk-eye at match point. True, but he was extremly lucky getting into the TB. He didnt deserve to win today with this performance. VolandriFan 07-04-2007, 12:18 PM Kiefer really played a beautiful match from what I saw. He's definitely back and should be able to find a place in the top 15 within the next 12 months. Voo de Mar 07-04-2007, 12:19 PM D'Joke is a tie-break specialist so far (75 % - extremaly well). Neely 07-04-2007, 12:21 PM The forehand was awful, mostly landing at the bottom of the net, backhand was more solid, but it lacked depth and pace That's often like that, even if he would not have missed some time at all. And agree with the volleys, too many dropshots, he should have played more in ordinary style into the corner or with a good length. It's not like he has to be immediately afraid of every passing shot of Djokovic. NikolaBGD 07-04-2007, 12:22 PM 42-16 in tie-breaks for Nole... Voo de Mar, is that best on the tour? Voo de Mar 07-04-2007, 12:27 PM 42-16 in tie-breaks for Nole... Voo de Mar, is that best on the tour? Rather yes, because it's more than 70 %. More than 60 % is very good. Tie-break specialists like Federer or Roddick have been 64 %. Neely 07-04-2007, 12:37 PM 42-16 in tie-breaks for Nole... Voo de Mar, is that best on the tour? The impressive thing is that he is doing it to start his career. Maybe some players have a good record it over their complete career or in their best years, but I think hardly anybody (if at all) ever posted such a strong record to start off his career. Voo de Mar 07-04-2007, 12:40 PM Rather yes, because it's more than 70 %. More than 60 % is very good. Tie-break specialists like Federer or Roddick have been 64 %. Of course Roddick and Federer have played many more tie-breaks than Nole but I've checked out their record when they were in the Djokovic's age: Federer had 47-40 (54 %) Roddick had 39-25 (60 %) Djokovic's 42-14 (75 %) is something extraordinary :yeah: IMO he lost 14 not 16 so far on the main tour. Sleepwalker64 07-04-2007, 12:44 PM Finally! Ajmo Nole! User ID 29337 07-04-2007, 12:45 PM  Leen. 07-04-2007, 12:52 PM well done, kiwi! even better done, djoko! guga2120 07-04-2007, 12:56 PM Novak is looking good, his next match should be great. Cmon now, we want revange for that loss at USO!!! ezekiel 07-04-2007, 02:25 PM Nole could have won that 2nd set TB but rain unsettled him 3 more wins to 100 wins, let's make it to the finals :p marina988 07-04-2007, 02:25 PM I was very surprised with the way Kiefer played!!!! Well done!!!! Also congrats to Nole!! Lleyton shouldn't be a bigger problem than Kiwi! :) ezekiel 07-04-2007, 02:33 PM Kiefer played pretty well with that serve volley thing and he was in pretty good shape considering how long he was off Grofica 07-04-2007, 03:08 PM  no name face 07-04-2007, 03:13 PM let's go nole! :worship: knight_ley 07-04-2007, 03:56 PM  Kiwi. And congrats to Nole. Hopefully he will beat Hewitt tomorrow. :yeah: justClaudia 07-04-2007, 04:18 PM congrats to Nole, but I'm really happy to see kiwi back on the tour. :yeah: CarstenL01 07-04-2007, 07:11 PM They both played a bad match... but for Kiwi it's okay, 2nd tornament after the injury... musefanatic 07-04-2007, 10:04 PM Well done Nole, oh god i couldn't believe the crack Kiefer gave to his racket at the end of the match, crazy man :p wenty 07-05-2007, 03:21 AM Bad luck for Kiwi  Good couple of weeks though. Keep it at it Kiwi :rocker: Voo de Mar 07-06-2007, 12:58 PM 42-16 in tie-breaks for Nole... Djokovic's 42-14 (75 %) is something extraordinary :yeah: IMO he lost 14 not 16 so far on the main tour. You're right Nikola :yeah: I forgot about his two losing tie-breaks in Hopman Cup. Neely 07-06-2007, 01:03 PM Djokovic really tiebreak king  Funny that Kiefer took one rare tiebreak of Djokovic, but then again Kiefer himself is one of the better tiebreak players regarding overall percentage, but on the other hand you can again say that this tiebreak "should" have been won by Djokovic as well (6-3 lead). Voo de Mar 07-06-2007, 03:44 PM Djokovic really tiebreak king  Funny that Kiefer took one rare tiebreak of Djokovic, but then again Kiefer himself is one of the better tiebreak players regarding overall percentage, but on the other hand you can again say that this tiebreak "should" have been won by Djokovic as well (6-3 lead). The roller coasters for Nole in tie-breaks this year at Wimbledon :) He lost against Kiefer from 6:3 up and won tie-breaks from 4:6 (Hewitt) and 3:6 down (Baghdatis). I think 2-1 in tie-breaks against Kiefer & Baghdatis plus 3-0 against Hewitt are testifing very well about Djokovic's mental strenght. All these players are good in tie-breaks but Nole is "The TB King" so far :) | |
