I mean, come on, rafahaters? fedhaters? safinhaters? and so on... Why cant you just enjoy tennis? Im watching tennis since i remember(to be true when i saw for my first time women tennis in wimbledon and noticed the short skirts :) ) and i like watching the tennis games whoever the opponents are. Of course i have my fave tennis players but i am not like "e.g Fuck you potatohead ljubicic". I see no logic having a "player tennis camp" and act like you are on war with the opposite "camps"! Whos with me? :D

Tennis is to enjoy for!

Not a bad post, except for the Sharapova pic.

MTF is about 96.7 percent fanboys/girls and it could stand for Mens Tennis Fanboys/Girls. WTA world is worse and that is scary.

Yes, you are right, all of these sexy men running around in white shorts, what more could anyone want? :inlove:

But seriously, disliking certain players is part of the spirit of the game. You don't choose to like or dislike a player, it just happens, otherwise you are not being true to yourself. It's all in the way people decide to portray those feelings, and some people are more vocal than others. There's nothing sweeter than seeing your favourite player pummel your most hated player, is there? ;)

By the way, great thread...telling what needs to be told

An excellent post, although you undid your good work slightily by posting a picture of Sharapova who is vastly overrated in the looks department.
I agree that the Fedtard V Rafatard war is incredibly tedious. Not all, but a proportion of the fans on both sides of the camp are glory supporters anyway, that only started supporting either player after they began to win big titles on a regular basis.

So, you want to have an argument about nothing, then be my guest. I will make this simple for you. I don't have to like a poster/person to have respect for them, this goes for players. I can't stand Hewitt but I have nothing but respect for what he has done as a player and that won't change.

Onto this subject, people here take too many things personally for a start. You criticise a player and back up the reasons for it. It's like you shot their mother, drank her blood and boiled up her remains and ate them that evening.

Hypersensitive fans are among all fanbases and it's hard to give these people anything but contempt at times.

 I completely agree. Also a lot of people seem to think that you can't be classed as a true fan of a particular player, unless you think that the sun shines out of their rear end 24 hours a day and refrain from ever criticising them. As you have said though, WTA World is generally a lot worse than this board on this front, with a proportion of the fans of the Williams sisters over there deserving an honourable mention.

Well you need to know that everyone is different. Yes, some people are hypersensitive when it comes to certain issues, so people should respect that and learn to expect defensive responses if they say something which could be damaging. What's water off your back could actually hurt somebody else, so just think about that before you come back with your retorts. I'm not saying that anyone should change the way they are for the sake of message board, I'm just saying that you can't shut someone down and expect them to just sit back and take it.

And I think everyone has a degree of respect for all of the players, it would just be plain stupid not to.

Honestly, I don't have time for hypersensitive fanboys/girls. I don't put up with it in my daily life and I am not going to go on the net.

Come to think of it most of the people/posters that I appreciate are ones that can back up their particular point of view, especially if it relates to the relative playing strengths and weaknesses, whether I agree with that or not isn' t important and hypsersensitive ones can't do that for the most part and I have already highlighted that.

Fair enough. I can offer valid and unbiased opinions on the games of players, so I assume your post isn't an attack on me. Of course I get it wrong sometimes, and I can think of one particular occassion where I made a stupid comment about a player I know little about, but everyone makes mistakes.

And the whole bandwagon concept is bullshit. Players win matches, people start noticing them. If you think me saying that I've always seen Luczak as a top 100 quality player means that I've jumped onto his bandwagon, then that's your problem.

Tennis is to enjoy for!

Obviously you belong to a minority of MTF posters who have remained normal tennis fans in spite of being here for some time now. Low posting rates must be a good indication of healthy attitude (hey, don't look at my post number! ). I think that the -tard wars and general insanity in this forum can affect even the most reasonable and mentally strong MTF members and after a certain point you get frustrated and start disliking players due to the ridiculous behavior of some of their fans. Once you go down that road you start getting involved in meaningless debates wasting your time (because you are already addicted to MTF).

I was recently watching a tennis match with some normal fans, people I hadn't seen for a year or so (to the best of my knowledge they have no idea about MTF and I did them the favor of not mentioning anything about it  ) and I found the experience very enjoyable although we supported different players. I was able to appreciate the match and the opponent of the player I was rooting for because there were no feelings of hatred and stupid arguments (it's only tennis after all). It was such a relief! On the other hand I realized how much I had learned about tennis in the past year by visiting this forum. It felt good to be the one to have all the answers .

Anyway, nowadays, every time MTF stops being fun and starts getting on my nerves I get off the computer and do something else. That might be the cure to the MTF insanity (and not RFK's logic :p).

Again, another thread for kicks. Thanks, PC;)

I think a true tennis fan might enjoy a game of tennis between any players, it wouldn't even matter if the players are not in the top 600! Because if you are a fan of the game, you could have as much fun observing and critiquing children in your neighbourhood as you would enjoy ATP pros on TV. I am actually quite happy that we have at least a handful 'tennis-fans' on MTF among the tards who are prone to losing rationality with their player's win & loss.

Having said that, I do enjoy tardism...I think its hilarious  because it turns every one into 10 year olds...and I am guilty of enjoying their lunacy.

THE BOX OFFICE REPORTS:
Think about it...The Oscar Hernandez thread which is a sleeper-hit on MTF grossed 600+ posts in more than four months. The Soderling-Rafa smash-hit did the same in two days. The Volandri-Roger post made 500+ in one night!
It might be sad...but Tardism sells.
Lunacy always does.

Hello, greetings from Australia,

I can understand why some fans dislike players, particularly
the WTA current baseliners, as the game today is too many
baseliners...too many two-handers...two many grunters (most unlady-like)...equals boring tennis. The best thing that can happen for the game is
for Justine and Roger, both conventional players, to keep on
winning. That'll encourage a new generation of players, including
serve-volliers. Justine's backhand is the prettiest stroke in tennis
today.

Methinks the umpires ought to clampdown on serial loud grunters, without
waiting for any complaints. It's blatant gamesmanship and becoming worse each
year.

hello my friend,

but did you not see match-point of kuznetsova vs venus williams yesterday? Let's go to the
videotape NOW!!!! During the rally, kuznetsova grunted very loudly but then stopped on her last three strokes, while still
hitting the ball extremely hard. It's as if she did this deliberately as a direct
response to venus' grunting. Clearly this is gamesmanship (or gameswomanship).
Both competitors are as bad as eachother in this respect.
