Tuesday's Wimbledon schedule??

I can't believe how they scheduled the matches today, scheduling women's 4th round matches before men's 3rd round matches. They must have known it was gonna rain again and due to this weird scheduling Djokovic and Kiefer might have to finish their match tomorrow. This means all 4th round matches in the bottom half of the schedule should be played on Thursday, which'll result in 4 straight days of best of 5 set matches for those players.

Is it that the really want to play the women's final on Saturday, cause otherwise I can't explain this? The women's side isn't in that much trouble since before today they still had 6 days to complete 4 best of 3 matches (if they moved the final to Sunday that is).

What do you guys think about this?

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Can't believe they put the women to play before the men. That's a joke.

I think they will end up pushing the mens SF to Saturday thus making it "Super Saturday" Wimbly style.

+ playing 4th round (Ferrero-Tipsarevic) before 3rd round matches (Rafa-Soda and Nole-Kiwi)

They don't like to put people on first after a continuation.

But that match was in one of the outer courts, if I'm not mistaken... the point is that the 3rd round matches should be the first to be played, before the women.

Why the heck is this?

All the other slams do this too and it annoys the heck out of me.

They did that yesterday to. Threw the women on, who can play forever before men's matches that needed to get done.

The rain wouldn't be that big of an issue if they were getting the second half of the men's draw out there. Nadal's match should have been their first priority today. It should be done by now.

The whole tournament should be on schedule before the women start again.

I understand, but this is just getting ridiculous. They needed to FINISH those third round matches before putting the women on. God only knows how long Keifer and Nole will take.

The women are all caught up right?

Men's matches need to be the first two the next few days. Though I'll be willing to bet center tomorrow is Federer and a women's match not something that needs to be caught up.

They should have just put the top women players on the outside courts.

There is a minimum 12hr time period from when an overnight suspended match can be restarted, so this is why they are not usually first on the OOP.

but they start at 11:00 am so players have more than 12hrs rest from time when game was suspended. They don't finish at 11:00 pm...

The best I can figure out is

Women:
Wednesday - Bottom Half 4th Round, Top Half Quarters
Thursday - Bottom Half Quarters
Friday - Semifinals
Saturday - Final

Men:
Wednesday - Bottom Half 3rd Round, Top Half 4th Round
Thursday - Bottom Half 4th Round, Top Half Quarters (or not)
Friday - Men's Quarterfinals or just Bottom Half Quarters
Saturday - Semifinals
Sunday - Final

Wow, 5 straight days of 5 setters.

That would be under the best circumstances.

Well, technically, Kiefer and Djokovic are about to play best of 3 tomorrow, and Nadal/Soderling are in teh final set.

I said minimum. Ok, say play is finished at 8.30pm, then all the other stuff they do after the match that takes time and depending it can take some time for them to be off the site and it could be at around 10pm for example, then they have to go back to their places, etc.

They should reduce doubles matches to best of 3 sets for the men, that would help clear up some of the backlog.

The matches that aren't completed they would rarely if it all go on first in the OOP in a Slam, hence they are usually the 2nd matches.

They really should play a Monday mens final, but they would hate that.

Nadal/Soderling could finish the match in first turn and then playing against Youzhny in the last.

They can't. They could only reduce the length of the matches before the tournament starts.

Btw who was the retard who decided to make men's doubles best of 5? They play best of 3 in all the other tournaments. Another thing that delays the tournament...

That would help, but Djokovic/Kiefer is still kind of in the way of that round too.

I have no probs with a best of 5 final for doubles, but not the rounds.

Best of 5 doubles is great, I don't see any reason to change that. Surely they have a bit of a problem now because of the rain, but that's nothing that can't be dealt with. They can easily play 2 matches a day in doubles, that's been done before so no big problem there.

About the singles, suppose they can't finish the matches tonight, they won't let either Nadal or Soderling or Kiefer or Djokovic finish their 3rd round match and start a 4th round match on the same day. They didn't do that with Ivanisvic/Henman in 2001 when they had to play the last set on Sunday morning and delayed the final to Monday. So I think they'll do the same now, play 1 match a day max (for the singles obviously).

At least they finally got the fucking idea of putting the men's third round matches first. Pity it took them so long.
