Ferrero is in top shape. Maybe he would be making a run for a Slam again if the competition was like it was in 2003. But it isn't. Roger in 3. Although I think Ferrero will have some nice moments in which we will think that he might take a set.

JCF has been playing well, but as we all know, that doesn't mean much when playing Federer. let's hope he doesn't give up after the first set, so at least it'll be worth watching.

Well, clay doesn't seem to be JCF's best surface nowadays so it's no surprise he gets owned by Fed on the dirt. I just want JC to come out with full confidence and believe that he is on equal footing with Roger. That makes all the difference between an entertaining match and a boring one. Most players just give up before they walk on court.

Usually I'd say Roger in 3, but given the fact that 1) Ferrero is playing very good and 2) Roger has had a long midtournament break, probably without even being able to practice, so it'll feel a bit like a 1st round for him, I'll say Roger in 4.

JCF has been serving very well this Wimbledon, so it may take a while for Roger to get used to return his serves since he's had such a long break, and given their last Wimbledon encounter, I think it could be closer than people expect. I think that match was not as close as the scoreline showed (even though I can't remember it exactly). Roger was kind of playing out of will from the baseline and in total control. Actually I consider it one of the best baseline performances from Roger that year (2005) and probably the best performance from the bh side.

I too hope it will be another good match hopefully tomorrow (:o), but I don't think the lack of match play will be of enough effect to cost Roger a whole set.

You of all people should know, Ron, that players give up before they even get on the court with Federer. I can't remember the last time he actually won a match. Nadal, on the other hand, must fight for every match as his opponents give it there all every time they face him. He is such a Spartan for coming through almost every match. :worship:

I just hope Juan Carlos will be able to bring out his best tennis tomorrow (if they're playing tomorrow that is!). Fed will still probably win in 3 or 4, but I know that JC playing on top of his game can give Fed a run for his money, even on grass.

I've never really minded Rusedski until this comment. I don't even think Roger would believe that. I think that one of the reasons that Roger has so much success is that he doesn't underestimate his opponents, he evaluates their strengths and weaknesses, and then moulds his gameplan around that. I think Federer is able to keep the right amount of confidence as well, so he's not overconfident and that puts him in a good mindset. Whereas Federer would be a moron to underestimate Ferrero, because Ferrero will go out there and give it his all, he'll be confident of his ablities (and rightly so) and he knows that if he loses the match, then he's still going to get a ranking boost, some confidence from how well he's played in this tournament, and a very nice paycheck. Don't discount Ferrero. Even though he might not win, I reckon he'll put up one hell of a fight.

i don't think federer will underestimate juanqui, he is too intelligent for that
i mean, roger is in a good shape, it is his best surface, he is doing well and he is clearly the favourite,

Even though he might not win, I reckon he'll put up one hell of a fight.

i was watching when Rusedski said that. i was so angry. i know that i love Juanqui but i'd have been pissed off no matter who he'd said that about. to just throw away a player like that, especially one who has been #1 in the world?! stupid thing to say and, i agree, not something that Roger would be thinking at all.

i haven't been overly impressed with rusedski's commentating. first year he's done it and he seems to have no sense of humour at all. putting him in a studio with john mcenroe and sue barker is sometime painful watching- john and sue are doing the usual banter thing but greg is not getting it at all..... awful..... shall we say a little bit dense?!!!
