Ferrero Forever

Well almost. 2 games to go, but he will get there. And I'm so excited because now he's reached at least the quarters of every slam. He's shown the world that he's not done yet, and I'm so proud of him, and I can't contain my excitement. I know I sound like a complete idiot right now, but YAY!!!!

Oh and I'm forgetting for now that Federer is his next opponent, but just mabye Federer having a massive rest period could be a bad thing that could work in Ferrero's favour, because Ferrero has been playing constantly, and Roger will have to get used to match play again. I'm probably just being hopeful, but I think Ferrero has a 1%chance in his current form, which is better than the 0.01% chance he would usually have of beating Federer on grass.

FERRERO, YOU ROCK!!!

*edit* oh geez, I just noticed the rain delay sign on the live scores. NOT FAIR!!! It just ruined my excitement, this could change everything.

Hopefully this rain delay will help Janko like the first one helped ferrero in the 1st set.:o

Hopefully it's the other way around hehe:D Seriously, I was getting so excited that Ferrero was going to win, but now am I so nervous, I feel like I'm going to physically be sick, and I can't even watch the match. Does anyone know how heavy the rain is?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a great match between Fed-Fer, but I just can't seem to see it happening
I just think Fed will be too much for Ferrero on grass...

JCF has done well, but he will get crushed by Federer. He is absolutely incapable of getting Fed out of his comfort.

Awesome JC, now a Quarter finalist at all the slams. It's great he's playing well again considering the last grass tournament loss he had. Hopefully he can go out swinging against Roger and make the match somewhat competitive.

Tipsy had knee problems in this match, Ferrero should of won this easier.

So Juan Carlos did it!
Best 8 or better in all slams! Now that's something he can be proud of. ;)
And I'm so happy to see his FH on fire!

Hope the QF will be as competitive and entertaining as their Wimbledon R4 in 2005. Although JC lost in straight, it was a really intense, high-quality affair throughout. :)

VAMOS JUANQUI!! :rocker2:

And now he's 2nd in the ace leaderboard with 55! Watch out, Wayne, he's gonna over-take you.

Even John McEnroe and Mary Carillo are on NBC now talking about how grass suits his game better these days than clay, unbelievably. And the results prove it: his results at Wimbledon the last few years have outshined his French Open results. Although shame on them for calling his game "slight." It used not to be slight and it hasn't been this past week.

And while I don't see Ferrero taking a set from Fed, I don't think people should write him off so quickly. They played three close sets in 2005, and I think Ferrero is serving better and playing with a little more confidence now. And even if he does suck, at least he's made the QF everywhere now. :)

Janko gave a good account of himself but he shouldn't have thrown away the 3rd set. Hopefully he learns and builds on his Wimbledon performance because players like Ferrero don't give cheap points away. It's tough at the top.

I agree with this. There is something about seeing him, a former World No. 1, struggle but soldier on without complaints, just keeping on trying, and now doing well, that you really want to root for him.
It would be great to have him back in the mix again.

Very solid win. I'm not sure he played as well as he did against Blake but there were definitely some good moments. His serving was astonishing, especially by his standards. He'll need to keep that up against the Fedster.

Anyway, it's been a great run and he doesn't play tomorrow so he'll have extra time to enjoy the moment. Who would have thought he'd still be in the tournament on the 2nd Thursday?

I'm so happy for Juanqui - him doing well is one bright spot at the moment. He's been playing well and I like that he enjoys the grass and Wimbledon and his perseverence here has been rewarded at last. He played a great match against Federer in 2005 in R4 and got better and better as the match wore on - Federer was lucky to get it done in 3 and it took a third set tiebreak to do it. I'm glad he's managed to go one better this year.

Don't worry Paolo, we didn't get any coverage like usual.

I can't believe Ferrero is really back. Regardless of what happens in the Federer match, this has been so great for him, and all his fans. We've been waiting since 2003 for this, and now we're 100% sure he'll get back to the top. For some reason, I'm not completely ruling him out of the Federer match, he has a chance and if he gets to the semifinals I've got no idea what crazy things I'll do. And if Channel 9 refuses to show this match, I will personally kill anyone associated with them.

Oh me too! If Juan Carlos managed to make it through to the semifinals, I think I'd find some new way to explode in jubilation. Just thinking about him in another slam semi brings me so much joy. And the fact that it's Wimbledon makes things oh so much sweeter, but it's no suprise because he's actually played high quality tennis on grass for a couple of years now.

I hope he can manage to emulate this form for the remainder of the year and not fall off the radar again, but I'm not holding my breath. :o

Channel 9 will have to show the match because, after all, it is Federer :p

Maybe to be on the safe side you should get Foxtel.

Because sometimes Channel 9 has programming committments and can't show the tennis any earlier than 11pm or 11:30pm while Foxtel shows it as soon as it starts.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've been trying so hard to convince my mum to let me get foxtel. I've even told her that I'd pay for it, but mum won't give her credit card number out, therefore I can't get it since I don't have a credit card myself. So I'm stuck with 2 tournaments a year basically. But still I can't see why Channel 9 puts a football discussion show ahead of wimbledon which is a prestigious sporting event. We see football all year round, would it kill them to miss out on the discussion show twice a year?
