What a fucking choker :smash: . He is lucky that it started raining, really how much chances does he need?

he only needs 2 points haha, he already had one set point @ 6-5

he'll waste as many chances as he gets, simple as that

that is not a suprise he wastes a tons of chances pretty often, as i told he has the tool to beat nadal but not mental strenght.

There is a reason why clowns will always remain clowns. They never take their chances. Never watch them in the hope of beating your disliked players, you'll only end up frustrated/wasting your time.

There is a great truth in this statement :spit: that may be difficult to swallow.

Soderling's overhead at set point was beyond choke. There aren't words to describe that shot.

How about the volley when Nadal hit a fairly weak shot right at him and he stuck out his racquet with two hands, framing the ball straight down like a weekend hack at the local park?

Soderling has choked away plenty of matches and will continue to choke away many more. No surprises here.

I think everyone was expecting Soderling to get in position to win a set only to choke it away.

Pathetic.

At least Rafa is having his equal share of luck! ;)

Soderling was playing just good enough for it to be frustrating, he was getting his chances and then failing to capitalize on them. Nadal is able to do that extra bit on the important points and Soderling isn't

On the other hand, don't you think Rafa is quite pissed right now? I'm sure he'll finish the match in straights, and now comes the f****n' rain. Unnnlucky

well there is a mixture of bad luck and good luck for Nadal. He will feel thankful that he is not a set down due to that missed overhead and thankful that a mishit ball landed on the line resulting in him winning a point he would've been unlikely to win at 6-6 but he will also be disappointed that he missed that FH at match point and that now we have a bit of a coinflip as to who can get two points ahead first.

Soderling has still already confirmed what most already knew. His big point play is terrible, if Soderling played like he did on most points on the important points then this would be a coinflip of a match but as it is Soderling is almost gone and it is unlikely he will win a fourth even if he can take the third.

lol

there will be 2, max 4, points to be played still

2 points should do it. Unreturned serve or weak return + FH put away.
!st serve fault, 2nd serve, lose the rally. GSM

The funny thing is there are some players who get the label of choker and then whenever they lose a tight match they are branded as one more and more often. The prime example is Safin and whenever he loses a match with a lower ranked guy (and oftentimes a higher ranked guy) it is due to his brain. With Soderling you can watch the match and really realise that this guy has issues with his mind, he seems to tighten up at big moments and his set point can be analysed thus:

First serve fault, of course.

Weakish second serve, getting the ball in court.

Careful shot loaded with topspin, very unSoderlingish shot to play and gave Rafa an easy pass off his favourite forehand.

Lucky to get such a weak lob from a player like Nadal but his arm tightens up, tries to cut down the risk by slicing the smash rather than blasting it but it floats a foot or two wide.

I mean, it's a wonder he even got to that situation and frankly Rafa played a weak point, about as weak as Soderling can expect from such a great big point player. He still couldn't take his chance.
